Hi all,

Ordered myself a new PC and forgot to get myself a new sound card. I know nothing about what's good or what's not, so a little bit of help would be appreciated. :)

Now I use my PC for gaming, music and movies. I have Logitech Z5500's and a set of Sennheiser PC350 headphones.

What would be the best sound card around for use with these?

The headphones are my brothers. I've been using them since my Speedlink Medusa's snapped. I don't fancy paying £100+ for another set of PC350's, so are there another set for around half the price with around the same quality?

After a bit of reading I found that stereo headphones would be a better choice for quality over 5.1 headphones. I use my headphones a lot so comfort would be nice, and I'd prefer headphones with cups which sit around the ear rather than on them.

Also, since I won't be getting Speedlink Medusa's again can anyone recommend a good audio splitter so I don't have to keep switching audio jacks at the back of my computer?

Thanks for the help.

Oh and the budget is around £150 for both sound card and headset. I can stretch a bit more if the price increase is worth it. :)

Thanks! :D

by headset do you *just* mean earphones or do you want a full headset with mic too?

if its the latter then....

i know you said you wanted stereo but i personally can vouch for the quality of the sharkoon xtatic v3 5.1 headset.

the mic works on pc, xbox and ps3 so you are covered should you ever want a little console action

Xonar DG and Sennheiser PC350. Done.

The DG is as good as the D1 to me (not quite as high sample rate though), and has an amplifier built in.

What're the drivers like for the DG? Are they as good as the Creative X-Fi ones which let me customise everything? And screenshots of the drivers?

I currently have an X-Fi in this PC but obviously if I take it out this PC will have no sound and my parents want this PC. Is the AG an improvement or a downgrade on the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi?

well I have a DX( a high spec sound card to the DG) but with no amp the drivers work fine for as long as comodo leaves it alone. I don't have no issue with drivers disite that...unlike I m sad to say when i had a xfi which I booted out

I use a modded creative driver, and I really like it. Might stick with this card and buy a cheap one to put in this machine, least I know I like this current one.

I would avoid the Pc350 if i were you lots of people have suggested to stay away from it , if you can consider stretching to the pc 360 or the carcharias.

I think you can get modded onces for ethoir... its just a case of trail and error I guess i perfer the xonars they seem higher spec and don't cost as much as the = creative...I m not saying for a second that creative hardware is bad, my last one was cripple by the software which was a shame.
