Hi guys,
I am using an Abit A-N68SV and as you can see in the pic below there is a tiny gap between the cpu mount and the ram slots. I am moving away from my stock cooler because my cpu runs incredibly hot (AMD Athlon 5600 x2 am2) and I am looking for a new cpu cooler to get my temps down. I am worried about the small gap and dont want to buy something which wont fit :)
can anyone suggest a decent cpu cooler which WILL DEFINITELY FIT my mobo,
thanks in advance

The Zalman 9700NT would fit on there without any issues, I used to have one of those cooling my 6000+ X2 and it kept it nice and cool, although the fan on it is rather loud, but it does have PWM control, but that only works if your mobo has a 4 pin fan header which I don't think that mobo has, at least I can't see it on the picture.

There are also cheaper alternatives out there if you don't want to spend a lot of money like the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro, I haven't used this one myself, but I have heard lots of people say that it is really good.

Hi

I'm running an Asus M2N motherboard and an Athlon 5200+ AM2 CPU, with my stock cooler i was hitting 65-70 degrees under load. I have recently swapped to a

and my temps have dropped down to 42 degrees running prime 95 so I'm very happy with the drop.

The footprint of the heatsink isn't much bigger than the stock AMD heatsink (the dimensions are given in the product description) and for a tenner I feel it is great value for money. It's very quiet too which is another big plus.

If you google a pic of an Asus M2N motherboard (I'd upload a pic but my works network won't let me) you can see the distance from socket to ram slots is only slightly different to yours.

Hope this helps.

***Edit*** Forgot to say this HSF comes with thermal compound already attached so you won't need to buy any more (not obvious in the description).
