If you guys would be so kind I would like a little help choosing a camera. I've had a brief search and look through some of the threads but basically I want you guys to spoon feed me everything I need to know! :D

Fatherhood is pending and I'd like to be able to capture some of the little tyke's magic moments on camera.

I don't really want to spend a fortune (max £200) but I want something that will get some fairly decent images by none-SLR standards. Obviously I'm no photographer but I'd say I was a bit better than a just a quick snapper if it makes a difference.

The main use will be family holidays, parties, days out etc etc and with a nipper involved it's going to involve action shots.... well once it gets out of breast sucking mode (do we ever get out of that).

Any advise on what I need to look out for when choosing a camera, or even any recommendations on cameras that may fit the bill would be greatly appreciated. I'd prefer it to come with its own chargeable battery rather than having to buy new ones every 3 weeks.

Thanks guys

p.s. I'm also on the look out for a decent photo printer as storing photos digitally doesn't really cut it for me. AI suppose I should start a new thread for that?

For me it was between the Panasonic TZ5 and the FX500.

I went for the FX500 mainly due to it being more compact (pocket size). Both cameras seem good with a few +/- over each other.

Oooh and the touch screen makes things a little easier to use.

Thanks for the inupt guys. I'll read some reviews on the Panasonic TZ5 and FX500 and see what the prices are like.

I'll also have a look at the Canon printers; the 4500 looks pretty decent.

Nice pictures Steve, I'll be happy if I can get some pics of that quality.
