Im currently trying to get my laptop to connect wirelessly to my router.

The Router itself is a Belkin F5D7630-4A

and the laptop is a Samsung R70

all the settings are set to automatic and it just hangs saying aquiring network address.

ive tried putting in a manual ip but i dont know what to put for gateway and dns.

Any help would be greatly appriciated :D

If it hangs when trying to get an IP address there usually is an authentication and or encryption problem normally associated with the fact that you've entered the correct key associated with the SSID but have selected the correct encryption method.

Remember that if you using technologies such as WPA2 - AES or CCMP. AES required hardware encryption as such your wireless card needs to support it.

Try using WPA2/WPA with TKIP.

yeah ive just got it working without using any encription. So thats the problem cheers :p will have a fiddle with the settings now

I would strongly advise that you do encrypt it, work from WPA Personal upto WPA2 and see which is compatible with your client card.

ok i can connect to the network without any encription but it disconnects randomly after a few minutes. Sometimes it will stay connected for a while longer but the wireless icon in the taskbar will show it as being disconnected .

The actual card in the laptop is a Intel(R)Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

anyone heard of anything like this before? and anyone know what to do

thanks in advance :p
