Help! CPU cooler advice or recommendations please? :(

Had a bit of hassle, they're claiming this wouldn't fit either, it'd cover the ram and be too tall for the case.
Case - CPU cooler MAX hight = 174mm

NH-12A - Hight with fan = 158mm

Should be plenty of room.

Can't comment about RAM clearence but the pictures do suggest that the cooler will not cover them.

Alternative coolers that should also be ok and cheaper than the Noctua.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £144.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

I have used a Brocken 3 before and that did not cover any of the RAM slots, same design as the Brocken 4.

Good to see a lot of discussion on case compatiblity. On bang for buck, the likes of the Peerless Assassin and PS120SE seem to hit hard. I'm always after the best of the best air cooling and previously this meant the NH-D15 like I've currently got.

So I've got to ask... even when budget is not an issue, is the NH-D15 no longer the king of air coolers on both temps and noise? Obviously things like case size and RAM clearance matter, and I've seen that the ThermalRight coolers seem to be a bit smaller and provide a bit more RAM compatibility.

Having seen the recent videos from HardwareCanucks on cooling, especially on Ryzen CPUs, it sounds like the top air coolers may be the PS120SE or the Deepcool Assassin 3, though the Assassin 3 is no longer easily available. Again, keeping in mind that not every build will be compatible.

Edit: NH-U12A seems to support RAM up to 42mm in height, someone was asking above. NH-U12A does seem pricey, especially when comparing to the likes of NH-D15 and the bang for buck options. But I've heard a lot of folks say it has no issues with RAM clearance, esp as the fan can be moved up a bit, depending on space in the case.

Best video i could find showing the NH-U12A not blocking RAM slots. (19 seconds in the intro)

The cooler is offset so maybe the people that are having issues are mounting it the wrong way.

That price though...

Thermalright U120EX performs very well. If the airflow is good, should be fantastic, specially at 35ish pounds. Decided to use it instead the Peerless Assassins because of RAM clearance, also the fan supplied with the U120EX is a much better fan. No RGB, but for many that is a positive. With Auto OC, PBO and all the bells and whistles on, the 7600 non X is pulling over 110W, which isn’t a lot for today’ standards, but keeping it at low 70s on cinebench and all core boost to 5.15, does better than my EK 360 AIO was doing. As mentioned, airflow is king. Using the Torrent Solid side panels.
Mounting pressure is fantastic. Tried the Dark Rock Pro 4 before and clearly its design isn’t as good/efficient for some modern CPUs. Just make sure you screw half turn each side a time and mounting pressure will be fantastic.

Thermalright has now done AIO's at massively cheaper prices than their competitors. Currently the Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 Black ARGB is under £55 and that's a 360mm setup!! There is a white version and 240mm versions as well although the 360mm is by far the best value and from the review I read earlier it easily handles a 13900k with all power limits removed.
