Hello, I have a very old system running an Asus motherboard with a 4th generation CPU, over 5 years old.

Tonight, I powered off and removed a SSD drive.

Now the system would power on, I can see the MB green light working, but nothing else. The power supply is Seasonic, I guess between 5-7 years old.

What should I check please?

I dont want to replace the PSU if you think the MB has "shorted" out

Thanks

Reset the bios?

You mean the hardware reset, on this old board shorting two pins.

Sorry, but no change, the MB light goes on but nothing from the power button

Vince, you are a life saver!

I had the motherboard upside down compared to the instructions I was reading, so I was shorting the wrong pins!

I have now reset the BIOS and its working!

No idea, why removing one drive (not the boot drive) would make it play dead

UEFI For you!! Cheeky but if it can't find the boot sector and you have fast boot/safe boot enabled it will simply show a black screen. I had an huntch :)
