Hey all wondering if you can help me out, built a new system for a friend a few weeks ago and everything was fine and has been up until now. He went to use it on Monday and no video output, brought it back to me tested the gfx card thats working fine as is the memory the board is an ASUS M5A99X EVO with a fx4100. When you turn the system on I get the green motherboard light but also get a red cpu light, also connected a speaker getting no beeps and no hard drive power up so im thinking either motherboard or cpu. I cannot test the CPU as I dont have another board that can take the fx4100.

So an I right in thinking a dead motherboard or am I overlooking something else that it could be

Thanks

Have you tried testing the PSU in another system?

Out of the motherboard and the CPU the Motherboard is more likely to have developed a fault than the CPU. Have you tried looking at the bottom of the CPS / socket for signs of damage? Incase it has been overvolted.
