I just touched the radiator every so often when I built mine.

Never used an anti-static strap or anything, and i have always been fine. Not sure on the risks of not wearing one but i would guess that they are pretty small. I just touch something earthed before i do anything with my PC. I suppose better safe than sorry ey ;)

But yeah wouldn't know how to use one, no instructions?

ok, thanks! so if i connect the mat to the radiator too, then put the pc case on the mat, would that be ok?

no, no instructions with the mat i think.

I always have the case on the floor and i am always sitting or kneeling on the ground when working with the PC.
No problems so far.

when i was working with a server building/installing ans setup shop, we had a entire room dedicated to building, and when ever one of us went to build, we never even bothered touching the antistatic wrist thing, it had dust on it! we simpply poked each other or a radiator (got some whoppers on poeple, was funny)

ull be fine, just dont wear anything cotton, that includes your granny's raindear jumper! (or if your feeling fun and extra supersticious, dont wear anything.)

Just built my first PC too. Just touched the radiator pipes or the inside of the case every now and then. Went without a hitch. :D

Don't shuffle around on the carpet a lot in slippers.

Off topic: if there's the chance of getting electrocution when touching something, it's safest to hold your member with the other hand, it's a quicker route to earth. Thus avoiding your heart and saving your life.
As told to us by our physics teacher. Can someone confirm this?
