Hi all!
I have a sword collection and I display some of it using neodymium magnets on a steel backplate. The problem is that the magnets are hooks and they aren't neatly compatible with the shapes of the various swords (see above). I've straightened some out and that works much better (see below) but the process takes me ages, leaves the magnets very rough-looking and I'd prefer something ready-made. Can anyone think of a better solution or find the product that's eluding me?

Would you not be better off buying properly scissor action sword hangers and gluing a strong magnet to the back?

Or I'd be looking at a local metal worker and having something custom made

That's a plan I can look into, thanks for the suggestion. I'm really surprised I can't see to find any magnets with 'straight hooks' already out there. Considering that I'm calling them straight hooks I think maybe the problem is my keywordage...

If you search for "pot magnet” you should find the magnetic part with a threaded hole in it.

Screw in a suitable length of threaded bar then cover the exposed thread with heat shrink or foam to protect the sword.

You could put a "cap nut" on the end to finish it off.
