Hi motors

I'm trying to find out the correct type of coolant and quantity needed for my friend's car. He's recovering from a shoulder injury and I'm trying to help him out. There's a check coolant warning light, it's not leaking coolant, header tank is at the correct level, car is working fine, so I imagine it's due a coolant change because the car is now 10 years old.

The car is a 2012 Mercedes E250 2.2 bluetec diesel convertible.

I'm googling away and can't find out for sure. It might be HOAT 8.4 litres, but that's not for certain.

Please can someone in the know help?

Thanks

Keep a eye on the levels. That's a sign of a head gasket problem. Could be other things like a split pipe or pump failure. Worse case cylinder head.

If the tank is full, why would it have a warning?

This warning light is more likely to indicate the presence of a fault rather than just a change that is due (I don't think the interval is 10 years anyway?).

I'll get him to clarify the alert and get it looked at. He's a great bloke but one of those many people that gets absolutely no servicing done whatsoever. For all I know the oil is like tar by now :)
