Hi!

Im not totally new, but having trouble getting my 6300 to get anywhere near the speeds most here are hitting.

Read through some of the stickies, but I still get boot problems and crashes.

What i have upgraded to recently is.

Gigabyte GA 965P-DS4
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
GeIL 2GB PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency

*and yes I updated the BIOS to the F6*

Everything that i read here should suggest i should get a great overclock with this gear.

And with everychance that im being an idoit, i wanted to check with all you guys before i ballsed it up badly.

Does anyone else have this setup? can you provide me with your BIOS settings?

Any input would be helpful! :)

what have you tried? What fsb have you reached at what voltage? edit: and what cooler / coretemps?
Mine is running 386fsb, 1.325VCore, +0.2VDimm @ 4-4-4-12 x2 RAM multiplier. (and I only have the 5300 Value RAM)

also take a look at http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17611316
but obviously don't jump straight to those settings as those are the larger overclocks.

Right CPU overclock seems to fine

But what the HELL is my RAM doing lol, or should i say what have i done wrong????

you're running your ram overclocked so it may be a problem (although the geil is good for overclocking). EasyTune is a bit weird and I would recommend the Bios instead of EasyTune - I'm assuming that you are using the bios, but worth mentioning.

You want to have your ram running at twice the FSB (when looking at it from easytune, which will be 1:1 in CPU-Z) - In the bios you want to set the multiplier to 2x. That way your ram won't be overclocked till you reach 400fsb.

Your ram timings are rather loose, It's rated for CAS4 (4-4-4-12) and you can set it down to that in the bios. (you need to use ctrl+f1 on the main page to access the timings). +0.2V (where it is now) should be fine

Also I doubt you'll need 1.41 on the CPU voltage. Would also set that back down to stock for that overclock (1.325V). You only really want to raise it if you hit any problems.

Okay im away to try that now!!!

Thanks for the help by the way! :)

Oh and yes, im doing everything in the BIOS, im just putting up what figure Easytune is showing!.

would ignore easytune's voltage then. When I open it, CPU voltage says 1.31 when set to 1.325 in the bios. And as you can see it shows a different core speed even though the settings are the same :s

Give these settings a try:

Limit CPUID - Disabled
C1E - Disabled
TM2 - Disabled
CPU EIST - Disabled
Virtualization - Disabled

CPU Clock Ratio (Multiplier): Default
CPU Host Frequency (FSB): 425
System Memory Multiplier: x2
Timings: 4,4,4,12
Memory voltage: +0.3 (stock voltage for the memory)
MCH voltage: +0.1
CPU voltage: +0.1 (1.425)
Memory Performance: Fast

Leave all the other voltage controls at default. That will give you 3GHz & should be stable.

Good stuff i have exactly the same cpu/mobo/ram so looking forward to trying it out.
On a side note to the OP what psu did you go for? i'm still undecided but swaying towards the seasonic 600w?

Already ahd a Antec TruePower 2.0 430W , so checked here and most said it whould be fine so stuck with that, im not playing games so i didnt go for a new GPU, still just running my Radeon X800 GT, so i wont be needing much more juice i dont think.

Might have to soon though, but i coould REALLY do without the hassel lol.

Tired this, failed to boot, and reset the BIOS back to F3

Well my rig failed Orthos after 15 minutes @ stock voltage. It was a blend of CPU and ram...so I dunno? My cpu was at 2.45ghz/ram 350/vcore 1.325 :(

What kind of temps are you getting in CoreTemp?

I'm surprised that it was actually the CPU temps that were hurting your overclock at that level. Atleast you have a good overclock in the end.
