I guess everyone on here must see this a lot.

I'm looking at building a new system and have put together the following list of hardware. Just after any advice/alternatives people could give me.

Will be used for web development, graphic design, RAW photo development/editing, light video editing and mild gaming. I say mild because i only play ET:Quake wars and it isn't the most demanding game around, some CoH and soon Warhammer Online.

OK here goes.....

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/XMS2 Memory CL5(5-5-5-18)

OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI

Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache (OS Drive)

2x Seagate 500GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200rpm 32MB Cache (RAID 1, storage)

Coolermaster "Dominator" CM690 Case

Coolermaster 520W RealPower Pro Modular PSU

Optiarc 20X DVD±RW/DL/RAM Internal SATA

Yeah thats about it, will run 64bit Vista home prem.

I dont know if it would be better to go for a 9600 GT due to my gaming needs not being so high. I have a Samsung Syncmaster 223Bw 22" LCD as a screen, logitech g5 mouse, and logitech 540x 5.1 speakers

Would a soundcard be a good idea or is onbard sound good enough for listening to mp3/Dvds and the games i stated above.

i have run out of space in this post so yeah, thanks in advance.

only changes i will make is

if you are never going to use sli, get a p35 or x38 chipset based MB, they are much better especially if you decide to overclock you cpu.

the seagate 250GB drives are faster than the WDs

if your using raid one for backing up your work, get a external hdd instead as raid one is not a method of backing stuff up.

Ok thanks, any recommendations on the mobo ?

I chose WD just out of a personal preferance tbh i hadn't looked into drives that much i have just always found that the WD to be faster but i will look into the seagate drives

I used externals for back up but the reason the two big drives are going into raid 1 is for integrity during projects, before the back ups happen. touch wood i have only ever lost one HDD during working but i feel better knowing that if one should ever go again i wont lose anything.
