EDIT It's a C3 chip

ok so had my rig at 3.8 for ages now but never had it prime stable just stable for the things i needed to do but now it's annoying me and feel compelled to get the thing prime stable

i returned everything back to stock and only increased the multi to take the cpu to 3.9Ghz at 1.475 volts it seems to run this fine on blend with round off checking enabled i got to 15 hours and thought sod it thats fine.

So my question were to proceed from here.

Ram is at default 1333Mhz but i have a 4GB kit of dominator 1600Mhz 8,8,8,24,2T

HT is also at 2000Mhz default

I would like to increase the ram and HT above stock but to do this should i bring the cpu back to stock level then work on what the ram is capable of or try doing it while the cpu is sitting at 3.8-3.9Ghz

Thing is i know next to nothing about ram timings and stuff and actually feel a bit of a dave for just throwing the overclock together the first time round

Any help would be gratefull appreciated as i'm also taking this time to learn how to overclock properly and not just bodge all the time

A good way to start is to aim for 1600mhz or lower for the RAM speed when overclocking. Bring the multiplier back down to stock and increase the FSB. This will overclock both the RAM, HT and the CPU. I would raise it 10mhz at a time first, while running Prime on Small FFT for about 15 minutes. Then when you find a good CPU speed, Run Prime on Small FFT again for about 8 hours.
The Blend test uses the RAM when stressing, I find this as a nice way to check if my RAM is stable.

ok so i have the cpu at 3.8 and the HT at 2400Mhz ran prime for 9 hours with no errors

now onto the memory how the hell do you overclock that properly

Lower the multiplier and increase the frequency. If your RAM overclock limits your CPU overclock don't bother as RAM speed will only make the smallest difference CPU is much more important.

ok i'm now fully stable for 11 hours prime with 3.8ghz,1600mhz on the ram with 8,8,8,24,2t,and 2600 on the HT

also passed occt and IBT

Any ideas on tightening up the timings on the ram
