Ive a DS3 intel duo set up, with an ide master, and sata storage. I used norton ghost 2003 , but it doesnt like this set up, what do other people use to make an image of the operating system, for easy restore ?

sorry for butting in but does Arconis True Image work within windows or do you still have to use a floppy to image your full drive to another thanks

You can do most stuff in windows, if not it'll ask you to reboot and then it'll load into an acronis loader and do stuff from there.

Alternatively you can make a bootable CD.

Any others, i cant get arconis to work either, backing up is fine, but i cant restore from an image, im not quite sure how arconis works tbh.

Im using the true image workstation 9.137, and being a user of norton ghost 2003, and its rather simple basic operation, i think a guide or help on using arconis is needed i feel. It all makes sence but during the restart of windows, it beings to load, flashes and go back into windows and not loading the image, assuming im making a correct image in the first instant !! Im not stupid, but i just need a little kick i feel

Another vote here for acronis. I like the secure zone (a small partition which stores your back ups (incremental), which you can boot into and resore.

Ok, ive made a back image of my operating drive C: , and the back up verifies. Ive made a boot up cd to start arconis , and on loading back up tool(from boot cd) as soon as i click next to proceed, it tells me there are no hard drives , and thus i presume nothink for it to locate to back up from, or find a drive to restore too ! The program goes through the motions as you do it from within windows, but upon reboot and arconis loading, it starts to load, and reboots and takes me back to windows. I can only assume it has somethink to do with this DS3 board, because it works fine on all my non intel pc`s. What on earth is going on ? Help !!

Been reading up a bit, looks like its the ICH8 & Sata controllers that the backup software cant indentify drives to restore. Bugger !

Did you create a bootable rescue disk yourself? If you did from within windows it should have copied all the required drivers into the rescue media.

This was the reason I bought Acronis TI in the first place because a few years back when I bought a Board with the Nforce3 chipset, Ghost couldn't work with the Sata raid controller.

I'm sure it would work, They do an add on bit for the workstation version that allows you to restore any image to any machine as it constructs its own HAL to suit the machine on the fly.

I made a boot cd from within windows yes, but upon using the disc, i go to load back up , and the program lloks for hard drives, and finds none at all, no ide, no sata... grrrr
