help GTA V key invalid

Received the card by post and yes it has a magnetic strip, I'm going to a store today to see what they say.

Is this a retail copy? And you've had it delivered already? Did it come with discs or just a card?

Its a card, the instructions say use steam etc

Good luck getting it sorted, sounds like as someone said it's not been activated. Does it say anything about it needing to be activated on it, or it's packaging?

Lots of tiny writing on the 'packaging' which is a strip of cardboard.
I'm sure it will be OK eventually.

The way those cards work, they have to be swiped at the till point to be activated, looks like they forgot to swipe your card.

Take it to the store with your receipt, they should be able to sort it there.

No, got a new code from the store, new one doesn't work either so going to try tomorrow then take it from there.

thats not strictly true, Kinguin sold Steam codes for the original early pre-order deal (before the first of february i believe) someone posted a SS about it in the main GTA V thread a few days ago

maybe they just scanned and sold the codes on route to the purple shirt place

Yeah, they were selling "Grand Theft Auto 5 UNCUT Steam gifts" in Jan. Not sure when they stopped.

They're a reseller, so probably got them in the brief window you could get GTA V from Steam without region locking. Official retail, Steam is the only legit place for that version and always has been.

Hello

Purchased a GTA key, it came with a graphics card from a legit place.

Anyway I enter the key and steam says invalid key.

I have raised a steam support ticket and contacted the vendors.

I just wondered if anyone has any ideas.

I didn't post in the GTA thread as I thought it might get lost in there amongst the happy people preloading .

Blimey thats a cracking deal, how much was the key, and what card did they give you with it ?

Wasn't one of those 970s was it ?

If it was, then thats some deal, as full price GTA V is £40, so if you got a 970 for that, well done mate!

Sounds like a lie, you should be able to activate steam codes whether or not the product has been released. The game has been available to preload for ages now.

Yeah should be able to use it now and pre-load.

Might sound daft, but have you tried seperating the code with hyphens ?

Not sure how the codes work in Steam, as ive always just bought games direct on there.

steam almost always has hyphens usually 3 or 4 sets of numbers so

OR

ASASA-ASASS-ASASA-ASASA

Yeah tried hyphens, chap on the forum (hotukdeals) also couldn't activate it and quoted 14th for activation.

100% will not work through Steam as it isn't a Steamworks game.

If it doesn't work with the Rockstar Social Club then it's either being typed in wrongly or has already been used.
