Incoming wall of text but if anyone can help me this i would be very appreciative.

I just ordered an OcUK GTX 470 (which happened to be a PNY version) to go with my existing Zotac GTX 470 (reference design) to use in SLi, as soon as i added the new card (OcUK one) my PC cant boot and blue screens immediately after logging in the error is:

0x00000116

nvlddmkm.sys

I then tried to boot into safe mode and upon windows loading my rig just hangs and i get a black screen, i took the OcUK card out and my rig boots fine then i uninstalled nvidia drivers downloaded the latest ones (258.62) ran driver cleaner and then put the OcUK one back in my rig, this time i can get a little further in windows i start the nvidia driver install and then get a black screen which causes my PC to hang again, i then swapped what slot the cards are so the OcUK card is in slot 1 and my Zotac card is in slot 2 and have the same issue.

I then take the OcUK card out so it’s just my Zotac GTX 470 in the system and the nvidia driver installs fine, so i then put only the PNY card back in the system and get the same blue screen again.

I have literally tried everything to get this card to work, updated to latest BIOS, updated motherboard drivers, disabled on board audio (i read somewhere that it could cause an issue), loaded fail safe defaults in the BIOS, about the only thing i have not done is a clean install of Windows 7 which i am not in the position to do at the moment.

I really don’t want the hassle of having to RMA this card so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

System Specs:

i7 920 D0 @ 4.66GHz
12GB Patriot Viper DDR3 @ 2011MHz
Gigabyte x58A UD3R Rev:01 (F7 BIOS)
Zotac GTX 470 (Reference design)
OcUK GTX 470 (PNY Reference design)
60GB Corsair Force GT (OS)
30GB OCZ Vertex
1TB Samsung Spin Point F3
LG Blu-Ray RW
Seasonic X-Series 1000W PSU

Im running the same combo as you, zotac + pny cards. I cant make out if you have tried the pny card on its own in the top slot.

Yes just to clarify i have tried the PNY card by itself in the top slot and get the same BSOD, in a nut shell my system works fine with only the Zotac card in any slot but if i add the PNY card either by itself in any slot or in a SLi config i either get a black screen and a system hang or a BSOD.

Id certainly say its RMA time for the PNY card as it sounds dead :(

Have to say i thought it would come to an RMA but thought i would get a second opinon on it before i have to go another week or 2 waiting for an RMA to get processed and returned.

Cheers for the reply though.

I have an Inno3D GTX 470 in my other machine (bought from a competitor) and it ran great for just over a year, if not a little hot, until recently when I started getting the same BSODs as yourself. I spent several days Googling and tried almost everything including full Windows reinstall and running memtest over all 3 RAM modules individually and together in every slot to eliminate faulty RAM.

Nothing seemed to fix it though so I'm in the process of returning it as it's still under warranty. I'm wondering what the cause is behind these issues...
