help, having nightmare in poland with my hardware

Does it have to be a phone conversation? What about Facebook chat, WLM, or something along them lines? They have webcam facilities too, which possibly could be better than a phone call anyway?

Thanks, me not knowing about such things. Skype is a non starter for other reasons.
What about the asus transformer and its useless wifi capabilities? Any apps I could download if I find a good signal somewhere that will increase its power?

Wrap it in tinfoil, shiny side out obviously.

Have you checked your phone settings to make sure you can even select a carrier? Some phones wont connect to just any carrier so you need to select one.

Other than that, ring your phone company from a land line and complain?

But wha'? Aren't your kids old enough to look after themselves between landline calls? I mean I'm sure you've posted pics before and they're not little school kids :|.

Yeah, i mean it's nice that you can use technology like that, but it's not a necessity - no need to get worked up about it. How many millennia of human civilization got by just fine not being able to talk to their kids face to face every second they were away?

Contact Orange Customer Services on 0044 7973 100 150

They should be able to activate Roaming on your account. Leave it about an hour and then turn your phone off and on again and try searching for a network to see if you can then get access.

They will say "you need to have it on before you leave" but that't not entirely true.

Hurrah, Transformer online and proper grammar hopefully.
SGS could see 2 wifi points and Transformer only 1.
This morning I noticed that the SGS was on Wifi point 2 with the password but wouldn't get on point 1 with the password so I went to reception and they said try it with another password which worked.
SGS told me it was wrong password but Transformer didn't.

Other problem:
I've Facebook'd the kids with my Orange details so they're making the phonecall.
Also after all my ranting Mrs Dimple pulls her San Fransisco out which is working straight away - stupid woman.

Thanks OCULar

Post an update on your trip. :)

Me and Mrs Dimple walked to the Schindler factory this morning and it was closed :(
Closed 1st monday of every month apparently so going tomorrow.
Ended up going on a tour of the Old Town and dined in McDonalds :)
At 8pm we're going to watch a Polish symphony orchestra perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons in a posh church and then onto the Hard Rock Cafe to see all the made up things on the wall.

Listen out for the trumpet each hour from the big clock tower in the main square... He pops his head out and gives people a wave from way up there. I swear he must live in that tower :o

Oh, and for somewhere REALLY nice to eat (Italian), then try Da Pietro on the main Square - Click me for map

In Malta one of our iPhones (on Orange) just stopped working one day. It knew it had the SIM in it, just "no service". Chucking in a different SIM made it work. Phoned Orange and it was your typical useless Indian muppet who was no help at all and didn't call back as promised.

Left the phone turned off for a day and then it came back to life. Think Orange / the local network must have temporarily blocked the SIM or something.
