I have this system

"Ultima OC 280 GTX" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ QX6950+ 3.00GHz+ Quad Core DDR2 System

Vista 32 Home premium

On Friday after having no problems at all playing i put the PC in stand by mode

10 mins later i needed to check something..so i restarted the pc and as it seemed to take longer than usual to load up (while on the windows screen) i hit the reset button and this is when the problem started.

The PC started up to main bios but then held on that for 20 seconds and then said i need to choose boot sequence..so as it was on HDD and then DVD i checked and yes it was the same...so after a while of testing..i inserted the Vista disk in to see if it would help..and on the repair section it found the HDD wasnt there to repair

This is a sata HDD..

So i gathered that the HDD is broken its only 9 months old

Is there a way to get the Boot sector back and the HDD working ?

I have tried believe me...

The solution is explained and the diagnosis was No HDD installed

It is installed and plugged in..i even changed the Sata cable in case it was at fault.

How does the HDD boot disappear unless its faulty of some kind

After trying the repair part i gave in and tried a new install

Got as far as typing in serial number of vista..and then it said where do you want to install it ...no HDD mad isnt it

It's hard to diagnose through online forum but i can give you some leads.
If the Windows doesn't recognized the hard drive but it still spins up, it may simply died.

In the other side, if it doesn't spins anymore and the other devices hooked to the same power cable, try to unplug the data cable then turn it on, if it spins up that way then there is a problem with either the interface on the drive or on the computer

Ok an update

When starting it up i feel the arms moving inside for a split second..but no spinning.

Does anyone here have a DOS program for boot recovery?(wipe and reinstall boot sequence)

Oh i have ordered another HDD as the price isnt bad but i do want whats is on the other HDD :(
