Hey, I have an 80gb hard drive (so not a lot) and for some reason recently it seems to just boot down for no apparent reason, then when it boots back up again my pc freezez (When I say boot down, I hear this noice that sounds like the hard drive cutting out then starting up again) the pc itself doesn't reboot it just stays as it is untill it boots up then like a say it freezez my pc.

Is this an overheating problem. Or is it more serious,
thanks for your help!

Could it be possible that you have the option "turn off hard disks" set in the windows power options ?
That behaviour is more symptomatic of dodgy disk as even if you power down disks, Windows knows about the powering down and won't freeze, it will only be delayed by 5 seconds or so. Of course, it makes sense to rule this out though.

I've had a case where windows froze after the HD was powered down by power mgmt. When i turned this option off (HD to remain powered on always) the problem was solved.
