I have been doing some looking round and think I may have bought poor rads n CPU block! But does this look bad?!!

I have a temp monitor on CPU block, says 28C
P5WDH CPU temp shows 38C
Core temp shows around 55-60C!!!

Now I know I should really change the 120.1 & 120.2 rads to Thermochill ones, but what about the TDX Danger Den block?

Could my CPU block not be seated right? Its obvilously a Sckt 775 and I did not think these had raised areas like old Sckt A etc stuff?

What other temps are people seeing on their Conroes with Core Temp?
My PC 'seems' real stable, but when I run Orthos to stress test it it reboots after 10 seconds!! I think the CPU is getting hot and mobo shutting down to save it.
My GPU's are running about 39C with no problems.

The loop is
pump->120.2 rad->CPU block->120.1 rad->SLI GPU's->pump

Right, looking forward to comments!

You temps are fine for your overclock,it may be failing a stress test because its not stable. Are the temps the same in the bios?have you tried speedfan to check monitor your temps?Asus probe?

I'm on air (zalman 9500) and idle at 28c asus temp and 40c core temp. With water i would expect it to be much lower than mine. I am clocked to 3.1 on stock btw.

Even if the rads are a bit naff you still shouldnt have temps that high. Could it be the two 7900's kicking loads of heat into your loop? might be an idea to a have one loop for cpu and the other for the cards.

First i would reseat the cpu block though, just to rule it out.

The GPU's are after the CPU so cant be that.
I will reseat the CPU block tonight just to satisfy my worrying mind!
Other than that I will lower my multiplyier and stress test to see if that does anything!
Oh the joy of pushing stuff to the limit!

Well if you have it on you should find it only throttles at about 65c. I'd keep it on if your worried at all about temps, it wont interfere until its too hot anyway. I dont think they'd be damage even at 70c

It doesnt throttle at 65C or 70C. But 60C is fine, he can get more out of that... your fine upto 65C.

Well, that better!
Took the CPU block off and I have a lovely thin layer over my CPU, but only a point contact in the middle about 3mm dia!!!

So do I need to lap the block, or the CPU?!!!

Quick test was to whack some AS5 onto the block (not the thinest, about finger nail thick if that) and reseat block.

Temps down to:-

Asus probe CPU 29C idle
Coretemp 40C idle

I can now stress test safely with coretemp reading 55-60C under load.

:D :D
