Help! I don't want to get addicted.

Well I'm not addicted as I haven't smoked one since I started this thread 2-3 nights ago.

I tried one cigar last night and see it as something to enjoy now and again. I won't buy another one for some time now.

So thanks, but I know the difference between addiction and enjoyment.

Yes you will become addicted to it... then you will Enjoy it - because your addicted and you need it and convince yourself you enjoy it !

Just accept people enjoy it for christ sake. Some people find it relaxing. No one is doubting the health risks, but statements like that are ridiculous.

Buy a humidor and keep it stocked up then you wont have to bother about going to get one in :) :D

I'm in the market for a humidor at the minute - it should hopefully save a few quid fom buying in tubos form all the time. Any recommendations? I need something to hold up to Churchill size but probably no more than 6-8 cigars at once.

oh your wrong.

the above mentioned things like pizza, house music etc are stuff people actually want to do, rather than having to do because of a unwanted urge, like craving for nicotine.

No, you're wrong. I smoke maybe 2 or 3 cigars a year because I enjoy it. I've never had an "unwanted urge" and it has nothing to do with the nicotine. I get a bigger rush from chocolate.

Of course people do get addicted but it's possible to enjoy a cigar without being addicted.

I actually had another thread about a month back when I got back from Cornwall. I smoked at least half a pack a night for a week and when I got home I had absolutely no desire to go out and buy some more. What do you mean "properly" ? the fact you inhale cigarettes but not cigars?

I mean Smoking for a prolonged period of time, and a substantial amount. ie, a Smoker?

No.

But the thing is people on here are trying to tell me I'm addicted after smoking very few.

What, so you're asking him if he is addicted so that if he says yes you can "prove" he's addicted?

And how does that make it "proper" in your eyes? AND why does "smoking" get a capital letter from you - is it THAT cool?

This thread is getting silly now. Some people need to accept that others enjoy smoking because at the end of the day, it is relaxing. There is a huge difference between smoking now and again to enjoy, and becoming addicted.

I used to Smoke.
You don't get addicted after a few on a night out or whatever. It's when you smoke regularly the body / need for it takes over.
I know loads of people who smoke the occasional cigar/cigarette and they are not "smokers", but when you get the habit of smoking often you will become addicted... i wish i never smoked at all apart from the money, there's the health issues and the "odeur de fag"....

I looked at nicotine on wikipedia, and i think it says that it does relax you for a bit, so i suppose one ciggarette/cigar a week wont harm you, and if you keep it at that, you wont get addicted, so go out a buy a big fat juicy cuban cigar :p

what is there to enjoy? you telling me the taste of a cigarette is nice? i don't think so. the smell of one? no. what is it you are enjoying?

as i said above, you are enjoying your fix of nicotine and you don't even know it yet.

Assuming rather a lot aren't you ?
I didn't ask if he were addicted did i ?
Whether he is addicted or not is not the point of discution is it ?

That would depend on how much you want to spend. I would be surprised if you would want only to hold 6-8 cigars. I bought one that could hold 50 and thats full up, so I bought another that could hold 200 and thats full. I suppose if you dont buy boxes then you're not going to need the storage.

Typically the humidor count usually only holds the amount in petit coronas so having mainly robustos and beliscosos fills them up rather quickly. Prices range from cheap to the ridiculous.

These people in the states are pretty cheap and cheerful Click , I bought the Exotica one which is pretty nice for the money. Then there are the ST Dupont, Dunhill, Elie Bleu that cost a fortune

...still, addicted or not, smoking is bad for you. Just like the sun, or eating steak regularly ;)

There's a lot of people who are anti-smoking yet have no real life experience of smoking. Which is fair enough, but it certainly takes away their right to say "smoking isn't pleasant" for smokers.

i was a smoker for 10 years until 2 months ago.

The only thing which is pleasant is the removal of the craving, not the taste or smell of the cigarette.

its like hitting yourself in the face with the hammer only to experience the enjoyment the painkiller gives you
