Help Identify This Game From the 90's

This may well be an impossible task. Back in the 1990's (between 1996 & 1999) I played a game that I got on one of those freeware/shareware discs (bought at PC shop) it had taster games, demos & some full stuff on it.
I remember very little, at the start you has these either towers or cloud things & you had these bridgey things that trundled out across the sky to neighbouring ones.

I know that is stuff all to go on but it is driving me mad

Honestly I know it is a long shot I remember when the connecting bridge things trundled out it made this whirring sound & there was the constant sound of wind. I could never get the game to play beyond that point & it has bothered me for years

Was there a time line theme to it like - futuristic - Historical - medieval - aliens? What PC did it play on and what short of media was used? CD - floppy disc - tape

Well you're both brill. That has bugged me for years... top notch! And considering the complete lack of rememberings (it is a real word honest) on my part that is pretty impressive thanks

PS Do do an old PC game search, love a bit of nostalgic game play
