System:
OS: WinXP Pro SP2 (up to date)
Gigabyte Board - GA-7VAXP (Bios F11) + Athlon XP 3000+ (=2166MHz)
760MB RAM
Primary Master - 80GB Maxtor
Primary SLave - DVD RW
Secondary Master - 250GB or 300GB (Maxtor) <---------------
Secondary Slave - 200GB Maxtor
Problem:
I have two Large HDD which are very slow when i use them as Slaves or as a drive not holding the OS.
When i use the 300GB or 250GB Disks as plain storage and try to copy files to them the system copys them very slowly with ocasional unexpected reboots.
A file of 45MB may take around 1minute+ when copied from any other disk or location.
If the Large drives are used a Prim.Master they work fine even if used with Win2k3.
Conclusion:
I know the motherboard supports Large HDD else it wouldnt have shown up on the bios.
The hard disk isnt faulty as it works fine as Pri.Master holding an OS.
Went through CMos/Bios and there arent much options to play around so mostly evrything would be on auto as ithink those are the best options.
Solution:
Considering getting a PCI-IDE card to hold the Large Disks but not sure if it will work.
So after numerous attempts i am here to see if anyone can help pleaseeee!
