Hi all

On Wednesday I plan to purchase myself a sub £300 24" monitor.

I use my pc for code work, and gaming, and have heard good things about both. screens hence my question.

In between the below two, which would you put your money on?

So far I'm leaning to the Samsung, I have T-200 here and it's served me well, but I fancy something bigger.. however the Benq has a impressive spec list, and I adore L.E.D screens.

Samsung

And

Benq

Many thanks for your time.

For that budget I'd be tempted by the 23 inch XL2370 (or PX2370 if you can find it). Slightly better than either of those screens in my opinion due in part to the fabulous backlight. I think you'd be happy with either of those screens really - I have heard excellent things about the BenQ and given the price and LEDness and everything I would be tempted by that myself.

I am heavily leaning to the Samsung, but cannot escape the fact that the BenQ has an amazing contrast ratio, is a LED screen, and is at a exceptional price, where the Samsung is more average in spec but has the important HDMI slot.

Grrr.

I thought the 5000000:1 Contrast Ratio was a typo?

No - but it's a commonly exaggerated feature termed 'dynamic contrast' which you can read all about on my website. Don't read too much into the figure itself - although the contrast of the BenQ is certainly very good in any mode.
