Help installing cpu cooler noctua nh-u12s !

What are they spiking at? I used to see idle at around 30ish and spikes to 40-50 depending on what I was doing, watching videos etc. But I had my fan curve set at 40% flat until it reached 60 and then steadily ramped up above those temps.

Ryzen 5 3600

Idle is 30, and spikes to 45ish when using the PC. I haven't tried gaming yet.. I'm letting the paste settle in a bit...
It only spikes when using the PC, otherwise it settles at 30

Boot time seems drastically quicker since installing the NH U12s

Ryzens seem funky with their temps... coming from an Intel user.

I don't have the most optimum case setup just yet but I see the spikes too so don't worry

Nice one thanks guys. Runs loads cooler than the stock one

Any idea why boot times are quicker than before ? When i turned the PC on after installing it said something about the BIOS being reset, guessing it has something to do with the BIOS firmware ?

Back when I changed from a 2400 to a 3600 it took longer to load, it now loads much quicker again like it used to

I'm also so glad I didn't mess the CPU or Motherboard up when the CPU got stuck to the heatsink. In future, it's best to wiggle the heatsink around and gently lift up, right ?

Yeah, if removing the heat sink, first run a stress test for several minutes to get the cooler, paste warm/hot then you unscrew the mounting bolts and gently twist to break the seal the paste creates. You should be looking to simply lift the heat sink off without any resistance.

Cool !
Hopefully I don't need to touch the heatsink again now. If I did need to, at least I'd know the trick to screwing it in !

That's the CPU, GPU, Ram and Heatsink upgraded. Next may be a PSU, but i'm not in a rush for that.

Right everything has settled down and I'm very happy so far. Temps are on average 5 to 7 degrees cooler than the stock. Idle, CS GO and Project Cars 2. I'm yet to try Cyberpunk 2077

CS GO used to be about late 65c, it's now 55c
