Help installing laptop SATA HD please.

Hi,

I am trying to repair/reinstall XP on my laptop but once it says no hd is detected. I know this is prob because the hd is a Fujitsu sata hd - MHV2080BH. Laptop is Fujitsu Amilo Xi1546.

I haven't got a floppy drive so will try booing from a USB stick with the sata hd drivers

I have downloaded a folder full of VIA RAID drivers relevant to my hd but I have no idea which one are actually need. Is copying the whole folder enough, or a specific file/driver. Will the files execute themselves once the USB stick boots?

Any advice much appreciated - this is driving my nuts as I have done this before on another laptop and it was dead easy then, but my laptop is proving a pain.

Your best bet is going to be to integrate the RAID drivers into a new XP install CD using nLite.

See if you can borrow a USB floppy if not try using nLite as mentioned above

Yeah, saw that. Would it be fine to integrate all the folders that came in the zip file, such as DIFXAPI, RAIDTool, VRAIDDrv...i.e. upon booting, all the folders will be searched for the required driver(s) and they'll get installed?

Does it not have a recovery partition?

Start PC, press F11, restore to factory settings.
