I installed my new sata2 drive with no problems what so ever. When i got to windows i found it wasnt in my computer. I checked device manager and everything seemed to be in order. But i just couldnt see or use it in any way. I checked the bios and it wasnt being detected as a Sata drive but it still knew it was there.

Then i switched to the 'non-raid' mode and it started to get detected. However, when i tried to boot up windows. I get a BSOD right at the beggining of the windows loading screen!

Any one have any ideas

p.s i have tried switching the jumpers to 1.5 as my mobo only supports Sata and not Sata2

OK firstly undo the change you made to the BIOS so that you can get back into windows, although I'm guessing you've already done that.

Have you checked if the new drive is showing in Disk Management (right click on My Computer, pick Manage, then Disk Management)? If it's showing in there then all you'll need to do is right click on it and create and format a partition on the disk, then it should show in My Computer.

sounds like you havent installed the drive under disk management as you wont be able to see the drive in my computer or access it until you have done this.

Yeah that was the problem. I had checked that before and seen that it wasnt on the first list. So then i scrolled down on the lower window and all i had to do was click initialize. Im formatting and making the partition as we speak so fingures crossed! Thanks Guys!
