hello guys i need help because i've run out of ideas to solve this poblem

i replaced old hard disk with new 500gb and booted computer. obviously i didn't expect it to boot windows because its clean raw disk. i put the windows disc in dvd drive and hoped to install windows on it like this but it only part loaded the setup and stopped in the process. the disk is showing in bios also so i don't know what the problemm is. how can i install os on it? any ideas?

What OS are you trying to install, if XP, you may need the SATA drivers, or set the SATA channel to IDE mode instead of AHCI or RAID ?

the hard disk i'm trying to install is sata and the motherboard i got is also sata compatible. its basically the same hard disk and from same manufacturer. i'm only replacing it because my older disk have cylinder and spin errors. i've tried to install windows xp, vista and windows 7 but they all seem to stop responding after loading setup files. windows xp stops after saying its inspecting hardware configuration and windows 7 freezes on the windows 7 logo screen.
