Oh Dear Oh Dear, got my self into a bit of a pickle here. :o

Firstly i know someone with such a low post count probably won't be taken as seriously in a strange sounding story like this but i have read these boards for years now, just never post, unless i need help like now lol.

Anyways i'm currently locked in my bedroom after trying the lock for the first time to see if it was the right key for the lock. (in hind sight i guess i shouldn't have been on the inside with the door shut, oh well you live and learn) The lock turned fine to lock the door but it was a struggle to turn it the other way, and whilst it does start to unlock when you turn it, it only goes so far. Hence the me being locked in my room problem.

Additionally all my housemates are out and i don't think any of them are coming back until tomorrow at the earliest! So i have no-one to kick the door in from the otherside.

I suppose it is possible to climb out my window but that will involve moving the wardrobe so i can stand on it before squeezing out a narrow top window onto a ledge before dangling down and jumping, followed by climbing over next door fence and then over their gate to get to the front of the house so i can kick the door in myself. buttt, seeing as lots of people will be able to see me trying to be spiderman i think i'll wait until my housemate gets back whenever that is.

I don't suppose anyone knows a neat trick to unlock the door?? it's one of those fairly big long chunky keys with a pull down handle that is used to open the door.

Also i have now realised this forum lacks an extremly embarrassed smilie! :(

I guess on the bright side i have the internet and freeview tv so i won't be too bored! :D

so, ideas anyone?

EDIT: Just realised i have no toilet access, uh oh!, i'll be bursting come the morning, guess i won't drink much tonight...

At least you didn't get locked in the bathroom. That happened to me. Luckily I have McGuyver like skills which I used to get out after about half an hour.

LMFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAO.

Jump out the window it's the only way. Use the curtains as parachutes.

you locked it, so it must unlock. Try pressing the in or pulling it out whilst turning. It's probably a badly cut key and just needs lining up precisely.

Since your on the inside you should be able to unscrew the handle facet and turn the the bolt yourself.

Of course, this relies on you being a man and having the proper screw driver in the first place

Step away from the keyboard & anything else electrical, you are far to dangerous to be near any of said objects.
Just sit in a corner & touch nothing until someone big & strong comes to your rescue.

I did a similar thing but luckily I was on the outside of my room...

The bar that slots through the door handles to and into the handles to pull the catch back was too short and slipped out of the outer handle....

Pics or ban ;)

I locked myself out of my uni house one time.

Went outside to give something to my mate and the door shut behind me (it's a lock outside-handle inside jobbie) so I was screwed.

Panic set in when I realised that I had food cooking in the oven. Luckily I managed to lean in the little top window with an old pipe and turn the cooker off, but I was still locked out for a few hours
