Help just built my first pc and it wont turn on !

PMSL +1 how true a statement is that, plus they will charge you stupid amounts of money and not actually do anything.

My very first build didnt start up, simple thing was, i put the power switch and power led on the wrong connectors, which meant it was never going to boot up unless i switched them over, easy mistake to make, however glad i made it that early mistake, as i always double check now :)

I done this to in my first build a couple of weeks ago :P (That and my ram wasn't seated properly.)

Look for small things you may have got in the wrong place first!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you don't have any RAM fitted, the computer will still POST, but will get stuck on the POST screen OR you will get no POST screen, the fans will spin up, but there will be beeps. Different motherboards may have different rules regarding no RAM.

Anyway, OP, it will be interesting to see if PCW get it fixed or not.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm guessing that he hasn't connected the power cable on the case, to his motherboard, hence, when he presses the power button, the motherboard is not receiving the short circuit and it fails to switch the PC on. OP, can you confirm that you did connect the case's power button to the motherboard?

I'm also thinking he put the front panel headers on wrong. It's easy to do if you don't read the manual and understand it.

A computer wont power up without RAM. You will never get an image on screen without it, monitor stays orange... fans do spin up. You usually get post beeps to indicate RAM is either faulty or not there at all.

arggg wanna know whats up with this guys computer lol. I'm mid build, waiting on a heatsink for my i7-2700k. This is my first build too, so just need to put the heatsink on and press the power button!

When putting in the graphics card, make sure it's down as far as it can go.

On a new Mobo that can take a reasonable amount of force. If it's not in properly you would get the issues you have described, so it's a possibility.

But if a video card isn't fitted in properly, the fans would spin up...wouldn't they?
You just wouldn't see an image on the monitor.
Right?

If the video card isn't fitted in properly you'd expect the system to power up for a second or so and stop as the OP's system does.

The mobo would act like this if the any one of video card/CPU/RAM is missing or faulty.

PC will charge you for a new motherboard / ram / cpu, hell it wouldn't surprise me if they said you needed a new case!

Hope you don't get your trousers taken down!

It would boot up without a GPU as it had on-board graphics.

Best think you can do is unplug everything, all the power cables, leds, switched, take out the ram and graphics card.

Now insert just one stick of ram only, connect only the power switch in the correct position, connect all of the power cables, and try again.

This can't be right, because I have run my PC (as a server), without any video card before.

You don't need a video card to run a system (unless the new motherboards no longer allow this).
