I just bought this camera brand new recently, im new to dslr so i dont know theres a prob with the camera.

When taking a shots i get a real nasty loud high pitched noise. Its noticed more while the shutter is open, eg for slow shutter speed shots like for 10 secs, i would get this noise until the shutter closes. Is this normal?

Cant really notice it in shutter speeds faster than 1/2 sec, i guess the sound is only heard when the shutter is open.

Well it doesnt sound normal thats for sure. Have you rang up ...hmm who do you ring up for Konica now ?

nope i havent rang up. will try going into store and testing out one later if i can. Was just hoping someone here with a 5d could tell me.

I Think sony overs our warranty and tech support now.

I've got the KM 7D and it sounds like you've got the anti-shake on. If you're taking shots with exposures slower than 1/4, you should be turning AS off and using a tripod.

The AS does make some noise, which is only really noticeable on slower exposures.

yeah i agree with it being noticeable only slower than 1/4 sec or so, but how loud is it exactly? seems to be way too loud, easily very noticeable.....
I *** probably hear it well even at about 10 - 20m away in a quite room.

If i turn off the Anti shake, does the sound go away even at long exposures?

The simple answer is obviously to just try it with AS turned off :)

The 5D has a plastic body, so maybe that makes it sound louder, but in my 7D it's not that loud.

If you want a good lens recommendation have a look at the Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro DG, I've just got one and it's very sharp :D
