Help! (Lens)

After the absolutely foolish idea of flogging my EOS350D to pay for a PC upgrade I really didn't need I'm in the process of wangling myself a second hand 20D body. I'm due to go to Paris in mid-October and want a decent all-round lens to use, budget is approximately £450. The problem is I want it all, wide and zoom

the Canon 70-200L isn't wide enough and the 17-40L isn't ... zoomy enough. Any ideas?

I think Tamron do a 30-300mm, It's not amazing quality but it does the job I hear

Sigma 18-200mm for £270?

Canon 28-200mm for £378?

Or the image-stabilised 18-135mm Canon at £375?

All prices -ish!

I like the sound of the Canons, I'll see if I can dig up some reviews. Cheers.

Edit: Do you mean the 28-135 IS? I can't find an 18-135
