Before it was just like VERY bad display it like you have the colour set at 8 colour on Windows

Reinstall Made no different.

I just cant understand it at all. Everyting looks great when installing. When I boot the computer the screen appear correct then it flick to the ugly screen.

Sorry not got my digi cam here...

I am now on my windows laptop again.... I have now started the Mac Restore the option where it erase the hd and restore as I get it from the shop. If this works then somthing in the apple Updater upset it somewhere. If it all back to normal I be afraid to do the update. But I suppose I have to as it got to be done sometime so i would have to do it and if it goes funny again i would have to take it back May concider getting money back and get myself a New Vista Laptop. Not a good welcome to mac world is it

I honestly think it one of the updates the borked it up.... As while it restoring at the molment the screen is how it should be.

The install I did before was just iinstalling on top of what was on so I suppose it wont of got rid of the updates. This one i am doing now should erase the HD and restore as I selected it in options.

What shall i do after it all done and if all is great shal i do the apple update?

Yeah I think I will have to report it... What the best way of reporting it? If none of your guys had this problem after doing all updates it makin gme thinking one of my hardware may not be up to standard? Maybe I should do the update and if it bork take it back and explain what i done and get them to swap it and try the new one in store would they do that for me or would i have to arrange it with the store?

Just going through the 2nd DVD now of Restore.....

So what i do i have a play around on it for a bit then I do the system update. Maybe do a few at a time?

Is there no option to restore the OS X to last best working point like the XP System Restore?

if its working during the install it must be working

you REALLY REALLY need to get some pictures up... somehow... camera phone? you could use the built in isight camera and a mirror ( i just gave my self a pat on the back for that one :D )

Ha ha

Have a pack from me....

Well Well Well just done the VERY big Restore to get it how I would when get it from the shop. And it all great I am on it now BUT not done any of the updates yet.... There 8 updates to be installed and I am worried about doing them just incase it goes wrong again...

What shall I do? Is there no chance of restore back to best working point like you can on XP?

you should do it... because if you do and it works ...then you know it was some wierd one off random thing....

if it happins again its a fault with your macbook!

Will do it in the morning having some fun with the laptop at the moment seeing i like it etc and loving it so far....... THough i see if I like it first then if i dont i can take it back and get money back. But so far lovin it so if update **** up again i then take back and swap or what ever they do... After I update should I restart right away

Only if it tells you to. OS X does not require a restart for most updates.

If you're busy installing things from the OS X installer disk, you might want to install X11 so you can natively run programs that want X Windows for their GUI. I find it a hassle to add it later as I have the tendency to misplace disks.

Well Well Well..... I have done 7 updates and everything is how it should be great and loving it. I did 1 update at a time... Some required reboot which were the system ones i believe the security ones....

Now I just got 1 more update to do and it called

Security Update 2006-007 (intel) Version 1.0

How come all working great so far up to now is it cos i done 1 as a time or was that not really needed? Or could it be this last one that needs to be updated. What if I did do the update and the screen went wrong again how can i get it back the the last good working state without having to go through 2 hrs of restore..... Or eoulf taking it back to Apple be the thing to do?

I dare not do this update till i hear back from you guys..... A very strange thing happen yesterday when I did all 8 updates. But just done 7 and everything is great so far.... Was kinda let down as being welcome to mac world in a bad way ha ha ha......

just do the security update and see if that causes the problem and after that take it back to where you purchased it.
