I'm hoping to get a new pc soon. I haven't really played that many games of recent time, other than on my 360. This is because I'm still on pentium 4 :p
At the moment the most graphically demanding games I have are:

The Orange Box
Age of Empires 3 (+ expansions)
Sim City Societies

Other than that, I can max out everything else that I have, as it's stuff like older aoe games, Baldurs Gate, the original Ghost Recon etc.

I made a list:

Now, what should I take off that list, and what should I add? Eg: I've got 3 Assassin's Creed games and 2 Bioshock games on there, are the earlier ones necessary to understand the story line? etc

Thanks OcUK :)

EDIT: I've changed some things.

Removed: Bioshock 2, Arma 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Far Cry 2, Vegas 2, World in conflict, Frontlines, Assassin's creed, Assassin's creed Brotherhood, Just Cause 2, Stalker,
Added: Metro 2033, Fear2: Project Origin, Borderlands

I love marmite ;)

I played the demo on the 360. It was good and very scary too, I think I was 12 at the time. I played it at 4 in the morning with a bunch of mates and they all crapped their pants :D

Why don't you just buy one game, see if you like it, complete it, and then buy another:)

Rather than blowing all your money on loads of games, you will be too distracted trying to play them all at once and won't enjoy it.

I suggest you buy crysis, both that and warhead will keep you busy for a while and it's a great thing to test out a new system. I really enjoyed the story too, don't get hung up on bad reviews, it's great.

The problem is that I like to have several on the go at once. When I have free time, like summer hols, I can game for a few hours. But not on a single game. Eg: Someone lent me GTA IV on 360, and I'm LOVING it, but the most I spent on it was 1 hour, and I usually spend 25-30 mins playing on it each time then move onto another game.

Also some of the games in the list are old and hard to get hold of. eg: doom3. So the longer I leave it, the more difficult it will be to get some of those games

Assassains Creed isn't that good that you need to buy all three games.

Which one should I buy, because I quite like adventure games like this?

I would buy BFBC 2, then buy all the other games on your list only when they appear on sale on Steam.

I think that most of the games are pretty good prices anyway. Far cheaper than Steam, so surely I wouldn't really save much by buying when on sale?

As an example, Borderlands is £6.79 on Steam at the moment, much cheaper than retail.

GTA IV has been £5 on Steam many times, Crysis Complete has been £14.99, Batman GOTY and Fallout 3 GOTY with all the DLC has been £14.99, Doom 3 was on offer last week at £4.75, Bioshock and STALKER have been £3.75.

So you just bide your time.

ah okay thank you very. I think that the GTA IV deal is the one to look out for. £5 is dirt cheap

I've got a huge dilemma now. Borderlands is on offer atm. But I won't be able to buy until GCSE results day, cos that's when I (hope to) know I'll be getting a new pc. Will the deal still be there on tuesday?

I see you've added FEAR2 but not the original FEAR. Imo the first game was much better than the second so i'd suggest you get that. For an old game the graphics are still rather nice.

oh ok, thanks for the heads up. And thank you to everyone who has posted in the thread. It's appreciated. Genuinely :)

Similar to the OP's issue I've also probably missed loads of games over the last few years, by that I mean there'll be some game come into the charts, I think "ooh, must get that after I've finished X" then I totally forget the game and it slips off the radar completely. So, what you could do with is for someone to have done a website somewhere which lists every PC game released over say the last 5 years with its date of release to act as a memory jogger if nothing else. Does such a site exist anywhere, or how to compile such a list, archives of top 20 games or something?

Wikipedia has a list of windows games alphabetically, but it's not quite comprehensive, there's a few thousand games. but quite a few missing too

knoxxs armory perhaps, the other 2 certainly not

Okay, I'll get that then. The one problem is that the person who I wanted to play co op with is refusing to buy the game :(

EDIT: can you do co op between the console version and pc version, cos then I'll have someone to play with?

I just bought the game, no expansions. If I like it, I'll get the expansions :)

This feels really good. It feels like I'm updating myself into the 21st century for gaming, even though I might not get a new pc :p
