Help me choose 10 games for school computers

on the HL and CS front, might wanna check out some info on Valves cyber cafe

we have in installed at uni here, mainly so x number of students on the comp science and games tech course can design 3d models and import it into HL2 etc as well as create HL2 maps using hammer

theres also the odd occasion that a few of us have a quick multi player match usin our models and maps :) lol always good fun

These are near the top but still not sure on using the same cd keys:
UT2k4
AOE2
COD
Serious Sam 2

Also like this idea:

Any other suggestions/information on licensing will be great :)

I can't see UT2k4 running on school PCs.

The original UT would however, and doesn't require multiple licenses. Goot be about £5 now and runs good on most PCs. Still looks quite good.

How about Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 - this is now 4 or 5 years old so you should be able to get it cheap and it has network play for LAN only.

Also, I have always thought populous the begining was a classic for multiplayer.

These are a bit different from the usual suggestions and should run on low spec machines fine.

Wasn't the UK version of Carmageddon rated lower as they used zombies instead of live people?

My Max Pack version is Cert18, although a bit of googling suggests that BBFC refused classification for the original release.

Serious Sam 2 will own the school PC's in my estimations. Look at Serious Sam, unbelievable fun just owning millions of enemies on the hardest difficulty. :D

Should be a breeze for the PCs as well. :)

Also, try Sven Coop. :)

Excellent Co-op mod for HL1 and in my experiences younger people much prefer to play together rather than against eachother. :)

I would check the specs first really. I have tried things like UT2004 or even good old MOHAA on basic pc's (1Ghz, 256MB RAM, Integrated GFX) and they ran horrible.

Worms Armageddon is good and runs on anything :D

Can you tell that i haven't been in the pc gaming arena for very long? :p So i think it'll be UT and HL with the various mods to cover the fps side of things.

I'll have a look for more info on the other suggestions. I've got till monday to decide, so plenty of time.

:)

That game was SO good it's untrue.

Played it on a 133 P1, 16mb ram, NO 3d card :D

Bullfrog were class back in the day :D

I think this might be abandonware, some sites that seem legit are offering it for download.

Anyone know if that is legal?

If you want some non-FPS games, particularly for lower-spec PC's then check out PopCap Games. Some of them are a bit too basic for your age range, however Zuma and Astropop are challenging and really addictive.

There are browser-based versions of some of the gamnes on the site however they are cut-down, so you would be better to download the trial versions of the full games if you want to have a look.

Tac Ops was good up to 2.2. 3.15 which was the retail version was terrible.

When we played games at school, UT'99 and CS 1.6 (RIN steam version) were the games of choice.

2.2 was great, I used to love the Steyr and the Steyr/Saiga switch times!

Ohh, and Famas cone fire!!! I miss that :)

However, 3.4 (or maybe 3.5) isn't too bad now. I still play it now and again, though nowhere near the 8-10 hours a day I used to spend on it.
