i3-3220 (4 threads) / radeon 6850 1GB / 500w corsair

atm i can play most stuff on either ultra or high 1080p but games like BF4 i have to knock down to medium. i would like to play upcoming games dying light, titan fall and the division in the best quality possible.

i have roughly £250 for a new graphics card

im not sure how you know if your going to get a bottleneck or not from the i3
i know that my i3 is only 6% slower (in gaming) compared to the i5

thoughts?

A 770 or 7970 or 280x would be the best options imo. I'll list a few within your budget and maybe 1/2 slightly above:

KFA2 Geforce GTX 770 EX OC 2048MB:

Gainward GeForce GTX 770:

Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCUII

was £281.99 inc VAT
£263.99 inc VAT Core Boost: 1070MHz, Memory: 3072MB 6400MHz

Sapphire toxic 280x
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-324-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1842 is also a good option but more pricey.

These are not in any particular order.

The 280x by asus is a dam good deal considering it is on offer this week. They overclock REALLY well.

Likewise the 770's i've listed within your price range are also great

A 280x is a really solid choice mantle may give the i3 a boost too. Sadly the mining craze is driving prices up on amd cards so you may have to shop around. Guess on the plus side you can mine yourself with it.

i see the 770 is slighlty better than the other choices

i was thinking about mantle but with nothing here to show benchmarks im not sure

G-sync looks promising

i just want a big upgrade tbh and i think either of them cards will do that

Yeah either cards will definitely do the job mate, you won't be disappointed with either. Whether a 280x or a 770
