Hi all, I'm currently using HD 4870 with reference cooling..
But, the temp. are hot like hell, especially the vram temperature..
It is about 93-100 C when full load..
And the core temp is about 73-81 C when full load..

I've set the fan running on 65%, and it just don't give me good result.. I've also point a side case fan directly towards the gpu..
Here is the quick link to my picture: ( It is above the PSU )

Btw, I've done some research to find nice cooler with good price/performance ratio, and of course the one I could easily find at my place..
Here they are:
1. Thermaltake Duorb AX
2. Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev2 (I will attach extra fan)
3. Thermalright V2 (I will attach extra fan)
4. Coolink Gfxchilla

Which one will give me best result on cooling my gpu core and vram??
Anyway, I read on some articles which says that some vram heatsink comes with 3rd party gpu cooler has a bad sticking material, is there anyway to solve this?

If you make sure the ram chips are cleaned and degreased properly, isopropolalchohol (sp?) should do the trick then they should stick ok. Failing that use some thermal glue from the likes of arctic silver but bear in mind once fitted with glue they will be near on impossible to remove again without ripping the ram chips off.

The DuOrb is a good cooler (too some 20c off my GTS250 under full load) but the fans aren't exactly quiet on full speed, the ISGC-V320 is much quieter and cools slightly better.

Actually I'm okay with noise, because while playing games I won't heard them due to the speakers sound..

Anyway does Duorb cools the vram a lot?

Not sure if you mean VRM's but there are also small heatsinks included for those and by the nature of the way it cools, ie blows air onto the pcb everything should be cooled pretty well. I was certainly quite impressed by it.

These cards run hot so i dont see the point in getting a new cooler if your not worried about noise. It would start to give you trouble if it was getting too hot.

Hi

I fitted one of these yesterday (Akasa AK-VC05 Freedom Force Graphics Card Cooler)
to my xfx 4870.
The old temps at idle were 75 and now it's down to 33 more of a drop than i expected

Hi all, I've just checked the store around my place... I can't found any accelero s1..
Instead, the store man offers me schyte mushashi?? Has anyone heard about that??
The price is almost the same as hr03 gt from thermalright, just adding a few bucks..

My question is worth buying schyte mushashi or should I just go for hr03 gt?
