Help me decide between 4K 27" Dell P2715Q IPS or 1440P 32" Samsung 32D850D IPS

Enjoy !!!

For myself I decided that as the 34" Aoc was not a good option (returned) (tbh in addition to certain issues I was not keen on the width :() so went back to 1st thought of 4k 28". Iiyama which has been ordered and should be to hand tomorrow ,which will give me the weekend to play :D

Hopefully the iiyama will live up to expectations :) - good panel, no backlight bleed and ,as I'm moving from 27" 1440 ips but only me using sitting in front, I am hopeful that do not find it much, if any , of a downgrade on quality !

I'm not sure what to do with this monitor, the banding is irritating would be perfect if not for that ! No back light bleed, no dead pixels, great viewing angle, colors..

Some things I've learned..

Anything less than 32" will not do, games look epic at this size, the scale makes everything so much more lifelike while maintaining decent resolution.

I prefer AMVA Panel to IPS (Except bloody banding), No IPS Glow, response time is good. Blacks are inky black.

10bit panels are awesome, great with 290X (10 bit support)

So, I'm looking for a 32"+ monitor with AMVA panel and no stupid banding !

I just don't know whether to keep this or not. I don't expect perfection, still over £400 is a fair chunk of money and the banding is annoying..

What would you guys do, send it back and get replacement / try different monitor? Or keep it?

Get rid of your BQ, replace it or get money back. At £400 you do not want something that irritates you that much.
I had the 32 inch Samsung and due to Flickering I had to get rid of it. I am stuck on my 22 inch LG monitor now while I wait to decide what to get next

Thanks bud, yeah you're right. Ordered a replacement, should be here Monday and there gonna take this one back. No delivery charge for either which is good.

Really hope the next one is better, apart from the dark patches (Banding) the screen is amazing.

Cant believe the P2715Q is about 7 weeks behind and they keep telling OCUK and then customers few days, then a fixed date, then it doesn't turn up. seriously thinking about buying the best alternate to P2715Q...

That monitor looks awesome, decent price, great spec for 4K and DELL warranty is second to none.. If you want 27" it'll be worth the wait for it.

Only thing is now I've tried 32" I can't go back :p

32" is the ideal size for me, the scale you get in games give them that much more immersion. Unfortunately the banding on my screen takes you out of that immersion :D

Looking forward to trying the replacement but if it sucks, I don't know what to try next...

Hi all.

I'm about to get myself a 4K Monitor as well. My requirements are simple, I want near perfect sRGB gamut (the Dell P2715Q has 99%), IPS Panel and a decent speed. (If the values hold true 9ms / 6ms on fast should be fast enough for gaming as well).

I have the Dell P2715Q ordered but as everyone else I am of course waiting for the thing to be made in the first place.

After many hours of research I found this one: Asus PB279Q.
It appaerently has a sRGB gamut of 100%, IPS Panel (well, its an AU Optronics AHVA really) and is slightly faster as well with 5ms.

Does anyone have any more information about that screen?
I am tempted to cancel my Dell preorder and get the Asus. It's slightly more expensive but seems like its an extremely good monitor as well.

Very, very tempted. It's not so much that the Dell is delayed, I won't be able to make much use of it the next 3 weeks anyways, but perhaps it is a better choice?

What do you guys think? :)

// edit: does anybody know what the 15Q in the dell description (P2715Q) and the 9Q in the Asus description (PB279Q) stand for? I'd love to know but couldn't really find any intel about that.

I've sent back the first two 32" benQ's I tried as both had some severe banding. On the third from another retailer now, this one does have banding but it's on the right hand side of the screen and not as noticeable when web browsing / in game etc.

Think I'll hang on to this one. I like to upgrade screens about every 3/4 years so this should do fine until 4K 32" screens are better spec and more affordable. 32" 1440P AMVA+ panel seems a good compromise until then. Good viewing angles, response time and blacks are inky black.

The black levels are excellent, so are the viewing angles, and being 32" the sense of size within games is so much better. Makes games look epic, sharp and huge ! It doesn't require any text scaling etc it looks perfect at default settings and both my 1440P 32" and Dell 24" have same font settings / scaling so match each other. So great if you're running dual screens 1440P / 1080P.

Overall it's a really nice screen just a shame that banding seems to be inherent with the technology. It's a nice big jump in size / black levels so will do nicely until 4K becomes more standardized. Not just the screens but the GPU's capable of running them (:

Will get some pics up at some point..

Get the new Lg pannel http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-31MU97-B-4k-ips-led-monitor

This looks amazing with a full 10bit panel full rgb support fast responce times and i think its the first true full featured monitor pricey but well worth it :D

The BenQ I'm using is 10bit panel as well. I'm waiting for 4K will keep this screen for 3/4 years, by then GPU's will be better equipped to handle the extra pixels. By the time I move to 4K there will be much wider selection of screens and would hope cheaper as well :)

10bit is a waste on multimedia, you need a proper colorimeter (no spyder crap).

The 279Q has bad overshoot ghosting. id avoid.

How's the DPI at that resolution? Do you lose a lot of sharpness? I have 1440p at 27"

That's the only problem with going to a 32in at 2560 x 1440 your Pixel Pitch jumps to 0.276 also current 32in panel are the older AMVA tech not the newer AH-IPS

Have you ever used a 24" 1920 x 1080 monitor? The pixel pitch is very similar to that.

The 32" models here use AMVA+ panels, a technology which was developed in parallel with AH-IPS. It isn't older, but has completely different image characteristics.
