Help me decide on a hobby car

How do you go about insuring hotrods like those jonny?
There are about 3 or 4 companies that insure them as modified cars and a dedicated insurance scheme for hotrods based on value if you join up with the NSRA. The NSRA is an organisation which organises the various hotrodding events round the country and is also a point of contact for the DVLA with regards to the legality of vehicles etc.

Insurance is actually surprisingly cheap because the accident rate is very low.

wow thanks for all the replies, been away for a bit, some interesting ideas.

Capris, yes i like em, not sure of their emminent modability, whats the deal with newer engines in them?

Muscle cars....may be too pricey then i geuss, especially as in the end itll only be looks (and a lovely noise) that i get out of em

Old fords.....not worth the budget, never liked the old escorts or fiestas, only way id ever tinker would be if i became profficient enough to take one beyond the ordinary realms of modding, ie like my dads m8 who put a jag XJS engine laterally across the boot and back seats of a morris 8.

Another idea would be to take the V6 2.5 vectra engine ive seen going locally sub £150 and put it in something errrrr unexpected :) could be fun!
