Hi there. Thanks for the heads up and it's quite shocking to know what you've just told me and TBH mate I've kinda got buyers remorse now, I should have put in more research before I spent big and I should know better after building PCs for nearly 30 years. If I do get any problems I'll be very quick to request an RMA, and multiple RMAs if necessary!
I read your post and subsequent replies with great interest. You will be fine unless you need to RMA through Asus as it pretty known they have terrible RMA service and this has been going on for years.
I am NGL to you I love the looks of Asus products and have had them for years. Here's what you should consider. The rtx 5080 while not offering much uplift over say a 4080 or 4090 when ran stock can be heavily overclocked. All 5080's can do this. This takes it to within a few frames of a 4090. It does however represents poor value for money as far as graphics cards go. But if you compare it to a 5090 then it not even close and that's another card with poor value for money and less performance uplift over the previous gen.
The problem with Asus cards is they use high current inductors and a majority of them are suceptible to coil whine just like MSI suprims.
Asus Tax gets brought up a lot here as you do pay a hefty premium over say comparable manufacturers or vendors and it's not a small amount. It quite significant. And that's before they release the white version. If it is white their is Asus Tax and white tax. Wait till a white astral comes out. It will make all other 5090 pricing for peasants.
About the quick release mechanism. I personally love it as I have been using them for years on their previous generations motherbaords. Although you do have to be gentle removing graphics cards on the x870e. ANd I have swapped graphics cards in and out since I got it. Although I don't go HAM on it. I take my time removing it. The only card that ever gave me trouble removing the card was the Astra 5090 LC suprisingly. SUprims no problems, gaming trios trios a breeze, Even suprim liquids which are a similar build to astral LC came out smoothly. But for some reason the LC version of the astral gave me issues removing it so I just took my time and I didn't try to force it out. Just reseated it a few times and tried again. And to answer your previous post I have done removing and inserting gpu's into the hero over 60 times.
Armoury crate, Corsair Icue, Msi gaming center etc they all bad I find. Armoury crate is notoriously difficult to remove especially if you use a function/app and then try to remove it, it will automatically download next time.
But third party app control centers for the most part I find is getting worse and worse. The only good thing is gpu tweak which shows the current going through your 12vhpwr cable. But I rather use afterburner. Hated gpu tweak.
I like the look of their AIO's just like I like the look of Corsair AIO's but Knowing the software behind it and the build quality of both companies I would never use them again.
I can only use Asus motherboards as well. For over 20 years I have used only them. I have used gigabyte like 2/3 times ever but I always hate the bios. Hated the MSI bios that I used like once or twice ever. But's more my fault as I am use to Asus boards and no reflection on other board maufacturers bios.
Just enjoy your setup.
