I'm looking at buying a barebones system to save me the hassle of building/overclocking.

I'm planning on using my SSD,h/disk and 4850 from my existing system.

The two i've seen are:-

OcUK Overclocked AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz @ 3.80GHz DDR3 Barebones

or the

OcUK Overclocked Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz DDR3 Barebones

Any thoughts on the two i.e. which is better for general gaming + normal everyday use.

thanks

The i5 would perform better than the 955BE but the socket it is on is already EOL, whereas the AM3 socket that the 955 belongs to will/b] be used in the future by AMD for newer CPUs (such as the Thubans / Hexacores)

Another quick question. if i buy another 4850 will i see a bit improvement in game play and will both setup's support crossfire?

If by game play you mean the frames per second then definitely. You should be able to run most games with a 4850 pretty well though so unless you really want to max out everything I think you'd be okay with a single one. Like the above post said though the AMD processor system has a better motherboard for crossfire but I doubt you'd see more than a a minor drop in frames and with 2 4850's you should be fine with either system.

I would go with the Phenom because it is more future proof than the i5 as AMD will be using AM3 socket for their new Thuban and Hexacore cpus plus i like AMD more than Intel because they make a lot of cpu's for one socket unlike Intel who bring out a new socket for every other cpu :p
