Help me decide! Two consoles, two good prices...

360 for me. PS3 just lacks enough games to warrent the outlay at the moment. Once it's got enough exclusive games that I want I'll get one but looking at the release schedule It's looking like it'll be 2008 by then.

After owning both a 360 and a PS3. The PS3 is a much better piece of hardware overall. Even things like navigating between menus and switching from videos is done much smoother in the PS3, it's menu structure shows how poor the 360's guides navagation is imo. Also signing into PSN compared to live is about 10 seconds faster and it is just small thing like this that make me annoyed about the 360.

The 360 is loud, it's unreliable and it has already broke twice for me, not to mention that it's DRM is a complete disaster. It may have a better lineup of games at the moment than what Sony is, but at E3 I think Sony has the chance to turn thing around a bit.

Edit: I may be slightly bias towards Sony here, but I think that the way Microsoft have handled the market within the last 2 years has been crap. The DRM issue has still not been fixed, they haven't sorted the situtation that almost all the 360's out there have the potential of breaking down and the way they handled microtransactions and downloadable content was extremely poor.

Ive got the 360 and its not all that, the games are expensive and not to my liking, the ps3 has much better games and looks mint, go ps3 I say!

But that just isn't true, 360 games right now are more varied, cheaper and for the most part better. This might change, it might not. Looking at the games coming out the PS3 doesn't have as many exclusive games and the cross platform ones tend to look better on the 360.

For example here are the games rated 8 and above by most sites for each console:

360:

GoW
GRAW
Oblivion
Forza 2
R6 Vegas
PDZ
Guitar hero 2
CoD 3
C&C3
Burnout Revenge
DOA 4
PGR 3
CoD 2
GRAW 2
FEAR The Darkness
Splinter Cell double Agent
Table Tennis
Virtua Tennis 3
Dead Rising
Need for speed Most Wanted
DiRT
Football manager 2k7
Viva Pinata
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
NHL 2K7
Saints Row
The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II
Fight Night Round 3
NBA 2K6
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
NBA 2K7
NHL 07
MotoGP 06
Hitman: Blood Money
2006 FIFA World Cup
Top Spin 2 Video Review
Peter Jackson's King Kong
Prince of Persia Classic
Def Jam: Icon
Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007
FIFA 07
Ridge Racer 6
The BIGS
NBA Street Homecourt
Condemned: Criminal Origins

And for PS3:

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Resistance: Fall of Man
The Darkness
NHL 2K7
MLB 07: The Show
Virtua Tennis 3
Fight Night Round 3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
NBA 2K7
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
Call of Duty 3
Def Jam: Icon
Virtua Fighter 5
The BIGS
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
NBA Street Homecourt
Ridge Racer 7

360: 49

PS3: 17

Number of those on both consoles: 11

Giving the 360 38 exclusive games scoring over 8/10 and the PS3 6.

You see, when we say it has more game we aren't lying :p

And mp3kla you can get the premium 360 for £229.99 delivered!

That's ridiculous, just because it has more games doesn't mean it has games that are offering completely new experiences which people haven't already had on a PS2 or the original Xbox. Also the reason the cross platform ones look better are because they are rushed ports on the PS3.

The first launch of the playstation and PS2 sucked and people seem to forget that this is a long-term plan by Sony, just like the first 2. They have already reached 5.5 million worldwide with a high pricepoint and very few good games. You compare that 360 list to a system which has just launched, why don't you compare it to the PS2. I have yet to play something on the 360 that has completely wowed me apart from Gears of War, but even then it is just a pretty shooter with a decent cover system.

as ridiculous as that sounds to you its the truth. the originality argument doesnt wash either - whats original about the ps3 games so far? ridge racer 7, fight night 3, virtua tennis 3, f.e.a.r?

because the ps2 is a last generation console and as such isnt the the console that the ps3 is competing against. That honour goes to the 360.

I never said they offered completely new experiences and they don't have to to be good games. The PS3 games don't offer 'completely new experiences' either, does that make them bad games?

I only listed games with an 8/10 or higher rating to avoid the very issue of showing that it has more, poorer games - because it clearly doesn't!

They still look worse, and the reason they are rushed ports is because Sony couldn't get the console out on time.

Sales don't make it a good console. Games do.

I am comparing the 360 and PS3 because, guess what? They're from the same generation of consoles and the OP is considering buying either of these consoles.

If that isn't enough the PS2 has been out about 5 years longer than the 360 whereas the 360 has only been out just over a year longer than the PS3. It is a much fairer comparison.

Hmm, sounds better than what I was going to go for. One game and the 360 from the supermarket I work at is £256.50 (with my discount). So RB6Vegas / Graw 2 comes with it for £26.50.

Think I should get it delivered or buy it from my store?

You can get the console and R6 Vegas for £248 delivered from the site, only saving £10 but that can get you a play and charge kit or another cheap game like Amped 3 which is good fun.

:)

I think he means one or the other, not sure though...

If you mean both then get it from the store, if not the website.

Possibly a stupid question but how do people know PS3 is more reliable than 360 it's only been out for a very short period of time? Has it been out for longer in Japan and showed low failure rates there? Did I just answer my own question there?

The 360 was dying since day one of it's release, people were getting DOA's or having to return due to DRE's or crashing/freezing and the dreaded TRL's. How many reports have there been of PS3's dying? Everyone I know who has a PS3 hasn't had one single problem, myself, my flatemate and a another lad down the road had duff 360's within a few weeks of buying them.

I watched my brother play it a lot a couple of months back, always fancied buying it. :)

But that just isn't true, 360 games right now are more varied

Varied? you do realise that of all the games you mentioned most are either shooting/fighing or driving, where's the variation? I mean in driving you don't even have F1 on 360, it's only just got a off road racing game (crap MP to boot), where's the variation? (ps3 F1 and motorstorm) Listing all those games is pointless, it's all heresay as to what a reviewer thinks compared to what the game is actually like to us. Cod 3 8/10? yeah right, what crock of crap that was. Also the fact that the 360 has been out longer and has a massive library compared to the PS3 also flaws your argument. I remember getting my first 360 and being bored very quickly because there were sod all games available for it. If you want to do a proper comparison, find out how many games were avail at launch for both consoles and how long it took for more to appear.
