everything not "bike" on my form was under "accessories" but then the bikes listed as the 2012 secture elite but was the 2011 model second hand (hence why it was only 650 and not over 1k). tbh I don't think they really care as long as it gets people on bikes and the LBS is making a profit.

I got told off by a lady at Cyclescheme for listing just "Accessories" as the customer had about 15 different things.

Funny thing is next week I've got to speak to employees of HMRC at centre one tax office about cyclescheme! Fun times :p

I know the location of a built but not ridden XL.

you do ?

well I was in Evans for about an hour chatting to one guy there, and they didn't have much in stock in my size, but I tried a Trek Domane 5.2 I think it was, in a 58cm but was too small, I then tried another bike (cant remember the name) in a 60cm and it was a good fit

So we had a look on there system and most of the ones he recommended was out of stock until the new year

There was one Domane that I could potentially get though, but it has only a Tiagra group set, is that a bad thing?

I said to him I'm after more comfort rather than racing, and he said most if not all brands do different versions, one for racing and one for more comfort
trek for example I'm looking at a Domane as its built for comfort in mind and doesn't have the aggressive front end

We were looking at Scott, Fuji, Spesialised etc

then I popped into Halfords (waste of time) then went onto my local independent specialist shop, and they only do Bianchi and Felt, looked at a Bianchi (was £2200) in a 59cm and it was perfect fit and he said if I was to go for a Felt to go for the Z model for what I wanted in a bike.

Also he said make sure you test ride before buying any bike, to 100% make sure its the right size for me and comfortable
He also said that different manufactures have different sizing , so one bike at 60cm could be the same in another brand at 58cm for example

So what's your take on this? I not sure what to get its all confusing!

coming from a MTB I probably would be happy what ever I get though!

Not ideal, depends how much you want one, like i say it's never been ridden.

Cube Agree GTC Pro would be high on my list.

Spec on the Trek seems poor.

yeah , but i could get to the next step up and get a 105 groupset but thats a long wait

Is that Cube good for comfort rather than racing?

EDIT //

looking to try it out in store, i wont buy a bike mail order, also i think i need at least a 59/60cm frame

Sounds like you got lots of good advice from someone who knows what they are taking about.

Fit is the most important thing when it comes to choosing a road bike. You can try some out, narrow your search to those with certain geometry characteristics and then try more. When you've narrowed it down again then look at components and such like.

That Trek isn't worth the money. The Fuji is better but its not to my taste. The Cube is nice above though. I was going to get the same Cube but couldn't find one at the time locally to try.

I've missed out on some of this thread but are you not considering Planet X any more? The RT-57 @ £999 is ridiculously good value.

Fair enough, fit is important, but its definitely worth it, especially if you're struggling to find good bikes locally, which was my problem. It was a 100 mile round trip for me.
