If it were a BMW 320D with a re-map and a few M-Sport bits and pieces, nobody would bat an eye, but because its a Mazda 3, everyone loses their minds...![]()
Nobody is losing any minds, merely pointing out that trying to turn a humdrum diesel into a performance car might not have been the wisest thing in the first place. It's completely relevant to the thread because there's a chance that it was the cause, and a greater chance that it'll cause issues with the warranty repair if it's not. This is exaggerated by the fact that the performance/hot variant of that same car isn't some exotica that's out of reach of mere mortals - it's a hot hatch that wouldn't have cost him much more to buy.
I'd love to see you back up the BMW remark though - the 320D is available in M sport trim out of the box, it's no different to the OPs "sport" spec car. I think if someone bought a 320D an bolted some M3 parts on it and was talking about how a stainless exhaust makes it sound nice, while trying to troubleshoot an issue which may well have been caused by the tinkering......I'd wager they'd receive a few more comments than a few harmless "it's a bit Barry" or "you might be wasting your time" sentiments.
Most people don't need you to take offence on their behalf by the way
