Hey guys :)

I'm buying a Cort G250 and a Roland MicroCube from Regent Guitars and I was wondering exactly what accessories I will need to order with these two things. What Guitar Cable , Tuner , Strings etc. (This is my first electric guitar :) ) If you guys could spec it from here http://www.guitars.co.uk/ or link from here it would be handy.

Thanks

Are you dead set from buying from them (there are better alternatives IMHO)..? If you still need the advice:

Cable: none of the "cheaper" cables quote a length, so you may be spending £7.99 on a 5ft lead  Something like the "Stage Premium Ultra", it's not a top-level lead but it's better than a generic el-cheapo one.. but find out how long it is before you buy, 20ft should be sufficient else you'll be tied to your amp :)

Tuner: from what is on there (not a great selection but will do for starters) "Seiko 727", should be okay.

I wouldn't worry about buying new strings just yet, you will have enough on your hands with getting everything set up and learning to play it before worrying about how to re-string. Okay, the strings that come on the guitar will poss be a little dull but they will give you enough to work with until you are comfortable with the guitar.

Did you get a strap and plectrums?

This may not be of any help, but one thing I've enjoyed with playing guitar for 20 years, is trying all the different products and finding which you like or don't like. And of course this goes on and on :)

Just buy what you like the look of, at the price that suits you. If it's no good, no matter. But you often stumble across a little secret that stays with you :)

For example I've just ordered some strings which cost just 66p. 95% sure they'll be crap, but you never know, they might just surprise me.

Thanks guys :)

Sorry for not being too clear.

Its just that I have to get the stuff delivered to Ireland which costs about £25 from every site (Well GAK is £26 :) ) and from here (Regents) its £35 including their premier service guitar set-up. So I thought it would be best. (My first Guitar :p )The thing is I need all the accessories and it doesnt list what, if anything, is included with the guitar so I thought I should ask around for the names of good quality accessories. I guess I could buy them in a music shop though I still wouldn't know what is best to buy

Tuner wise, first replacement strings, Guitar cable, plectrums etc.

And if you have another site which would check the guitar like Regents premier set-up then do suggest it :D ....or a good site for accessories with cheap delivery?

Cheers!

Thats all you need really. I would get the .9 gauge strings though as any higher and it will be harder on the hands, and your cort will no doubt be fitted with .9's anyway. You get a pack of three so you wont have to buy any more for a few good months to come! With the plectrums, they are small but very accurate so it help you to hit the correct string. I would get one of each (1,2 and 3mm) so that you can get a feel of what thickness you prefer. There is not really any need for a strap when seated, but sooner or later you will want to attempt playing whilst stood up.

Ozzie has posted some great stuff with the execption of picks!

I really don't think stubbies are the best picks for his first electric guitar?? (not necessarily beginner)...

You'd be better off with something "neutral" like Dunlop Tortex's or something... stubbies I wouldn't recommend you start with!

Of course Jazz III's are bloody awesome but don't start on them eithre :)

Ah that is a good site :)

I will just get a mix of those plectrums see what each of them are like.
Thanks for the recommendations they look great

But what guitar cable should I get?? (From there please ;) )

Thanks!

I was gonna say about the choice of picks too - stubby's probably arent the best thing to start off with imo.

If you can get a pack of different style picks then get that, else just go to a local guitar shop and just grab 5 of differing thicknesses.

Yeah I ordered a lot of different picks to try out so no worries :)
I also got a Planet Waves 20ft cable which are meant to be good.

But I have a new problem with my order from Regents. (I choose them as because of their guitar set-up service and from reading other guitar threads here)

I received this email from them:

Hi there,
the sunburst colour of the G250 left handed has been discontinued and now available in black only. I have spoken with the supplier and the black ones will be available around the end of May. I appreciate that this may be too long to wait so please can you advise me on how you would like to proceed.

best wishes

Doesnt seem like they will have the Cort til May so any alternative places to buy a fully set-up, and checked for quality control, guitar?? :(
