One of the buttons has fallen off my car key and I'd like to replace it as cheaply as possible. The car's an old clio from 2007.

Pic of broken key

The internal button has fallen off as well as the external shell...

It's the lock button that's missing - the small metal circle in the black square, should look like the white circles in the metal squares

The switches are called tactile switches I think. These are surface mount. It should be possible to purchase a replacement but would need a little bit of soldering to remove the old and replace.

I'm not sure how you can fix the missing button though.

I guess I don't have anything to lose, and I do have an iron. I think the plastic case is less of a big deal, I seem to remember getting one in the past, but not from where from!!

does the switch on the circuit board still work if you press it in the middle ?
if so just fashion a new button out of a piece of cork say and glue it on, external plastic could be a piece of inner tube say.

... but if you have a car breakers, or any same model key off of ebay can transplant the bits you need.
£5 ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/298386298014

I was going to suggest if you knew someone with a 3d printer they could print a replacement shell for you.

However, a quick search and I wouldn't bother - there's brand new shells available on ebay for less than £3 delivered. Amazon even seem to sell them with spare buttons to solder on.
