Bought this game at launch and wanted to get into it. Never played BF2 but have played BC2 and i couldnt get into it either. It seems to be an awsome game but just something is missing maybe its the way i play below is some of the issues im having that are stopping me enjoying this game, Maybe some tips to overcome these issues would help.

I gave up on the game about 2 weeks after launch so lets see if i can give it one more go

ok issues are:

  • Seens that im ALWAYS getting blown up by tanks, Its almost like if your not in a tank that your just sitting bait, and i dont always want to be in a vehicle
  • Getting sniped from MILES away
  • Maps seem so big that by the time i get into the action ive been blown up by tanks :D
  • Some maps it seems impossible to get past a choke point becuase its lodged with people with RPG's or tanks
  • I always feel like a lone wolf on BF3 evreyone just sprints off without me
  • I dont know what class to play as leveling up seems brutally slow compared to MW3

any help appreciated

Try not to be a target! Use the terrain to your advantage, know your limitations, don't engage enemies that are too far off for your weapon, spot for your team. Your ears are your second best weapon in BF3

Stick with 32 player servers to start with. 64 player servers are usually a bit too hectic to learn on.

The choke point issue i've only really found an issue on a couple of urban maps (looking at you Metro!).

Always watch the minimap for tank positions and listen to the radio reports, they are fairly easy to avoid when spotted. (spot them yourself with Q if you have the chance).

Try to avoid running for long distances over exposed terrain - use cover.

  • Getting sniped from MILES away Happens to all of us :(
  • Maps seem so big that by the time i get into the action ive been blown up by tanks :D Hijack some transport like a jeep or jump in a helicopter/tank
  • Some maps it seems impossible to get past a choke point becuase its lodged with people with RPG's or tanks I assume you mean metro and grand bazzar, bazzar is quite good but stay clear of metro as it's probably the worst map ever created for a game - in 64 player servers anyway.
  • I always feel like a lone wolf on BF3 evreyone just sprints off without me Run with them, back up your squad/ Spawn on them and help them.
  • I dont know what class to play as leveling up seems brutally slow compared to MW3 You only need 100 kills per weapon to unlock like 80% of the upgrades, use all the guns until you find the one you like. Personally I'm a support player and enjoy using the M27 IAR (US)

It's a quality game fella, stick at it :)

Join a squad.
Spawn on your squad mates whenevr you can
Get good with vehicles.

Pft! Vehicles are for wimps. Earlier this evening I hoofed it from RU spawn in Caspian all the way to the radio tower (netting half a dozen kills and a flag cap) and took out a tank with a hand grenade when I got there :D

all my mates are console players and wouldnt know how to handle a mosue if it hit them in the head. Im going to have a quick blast tonight and see if i can get back into it.

I have not played MW3 but the levelling in BF3 is very quick! I could play BF2 every day until I die and I still would not be the highest rank!
I often get owned by a sniper. I find I am best in the APC or the Tank, but there is often a scramble to get in it first as several people wait for it to spawn.
You do need a few unlocks to level the playing field a bit. As a new player you are at a disadvantage but the unlocks come quickly and are plentiful.
My biggest fault at the moment (I have played just under 50 hours) is that I try to kill enemies from afar with a medium range gun. I don't know why I even do this as it did not work on BC2 (but did on BF2 as no bullet time or drop).

Personally, BF3 wouldnt be half the game it is if it wasnt for playing with other people. Being in vent with a couple of friends or clan-mates turns it from a good game to a OMFG EXCELLENT game. There are plenty of clans to join, and plenty of OCUK people who play. Thats my #1 tip.

I hate people so I play lonewolf :) But I do lonewolf well, it is my style and it works well for me. I started to hate people when I started gaming on the xbox, all those kids screaming and singing when gaming really annoyed me so I choose to stay away and only play with my friends in real life instead of random people I don't know. People make me rage lol

If you're wanting to level up and get more weapons then start off with the engineer. Drop AT mines at the flags and 9/10 times they'll bag you a kill or two.
On levels like Bazaar or Metro I normally go as assault or support. Hang back and drop first aid kits or ammo boxes. Rushing in to heal people when appropriate. This is a (quite boring) but good way to rack up some points in these classes.

Like has been said, listen out for other guys in your team spotting enemies and try to spot some yourself.
Other than that just get some practice in and remember it's not MW3 your playing and if you're trying to play it in the same way then you'll get owned by pretty much everyone on the other team :)

Get onto a 64 player metro rush map with a big ticket limit and run around healing and med packing at the choke points and you'll level up your assault class in no time.

Use the terrain to your advantage e.g staying in the shadows and also unless your on engineer just avoid going near tanks, but most important is play the objective.

I joined this game on launch date and had no clue what to do (my 1st online fps) I ran around like a headless chicken to start and made myself pretty much cannon fodder.
I learnt the maps after time which realy helped (know where enemy hide and come from).

Deffo join a squad as soon as you start and stay away from 64 man servers till you learn the maps.

Assault class is quite easy to level up and stay with your squad and as soon as you have unlocked defib this will rack points quickly.

My kill/death ratio is shocking but idc I play to have fun and thats what I do.
