I have the Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler aswell.

i dont really have a clue what to change in bios in regards to voltage and all that bubblegum lol but would really be greatful for some help :)

hey mad weegie....
Judging from your settings, firstly you need to disable whatever it is that is throttling the multiplier back to x6. It has different names on different bioses, and none that i can remember, so maybe someone else can help here!

After that is done, you need to set you CPU host clock control to enabled. This gives you the control of FSB.....BUT.....with all that RAM you need to select a good System Memory Multiplier when you up this frequency (266 default with you) so that your memory is running at similar speeds (800 default with your RAM) to help maintain stability.

So, do the above, then raise frequency (keeping the RAM to appropriate speeds) by 5 hz each time until its unstable with your stock CPU voltage

This is a very bad explanation, but hopefully it will start you off, and the other regulars can come in with some better advice than me!! ;)

Good luck

i thought my cooling was ok ? and at 3hz it was still very cool but i have come across a problem :( and lastnight the pc failed to post and i had to reset to 2.4hz.... so im thinking i need to change the ram timings and voltage as rodo said,... now any advice on settings to use guys!

sorry for late reply, been working lots this week.

drop the memory speed down a notch, set pci-e frequency to 100mhz then boot to windows, download 'intel burn test' and run it
see if it passes (while monitoring temps) if it does you know the clocks stable, (do you want to go higher? if so go back to bios and raise fsb a notch and repeat above till it fails - if it fails try upping vcore a touch and repeat)
if you're happy with 3ghz set memory back to 800 boot back to windows, download orthos and run that for 8hrs :P

ive prob missed stuff out so any probs yell, looking at your VID your chip should easily do 3ghz without any voltage adjustments, but you may want to set you cpu voltage manually to the 1.2875v in bios

it will post with these settings but i cant seem to get it on 800 for the ram etc. if i do that.. it just doesnt post , pc reboots and resets to 2.4 again. hmmmmm

Hi mad_weegie,

My temptation would be to manually set voltages rather than doing by auto. It may be that your RAM needs a little more than the stock 1.8v. Mine won't even post without having 2.1v not sure if this is specific to my OCZ platinum memory or the Abit IP35 motherboard?

I'd say you can probably increase the CPU voltage as well a little if necessary but keep an eye on temperature.

My Q6600 is running at 3.51 Ghz (390 x 9) but thats with 1.4v to the CPU but I've got fairly silly cooling to manage the heat produced (a lapped Thermalright ultra 120 with lapped cpu in a Silverstone TJ10 case with lots of fans).

Wha motherboard are you using?

When you are load testing your cpu fire up CPU-Z/ CPUID and let me know what voltage its showing for the cpu core voltage. Its probably worth posting a screenshot of the CPU page of CPU-Z. Please also post load temperatures for the CPU.
