Help me! internet keeps cutting off and im going mad here

Firmware Version V4.01.40

I get download speeds of 1.8mb/s though so I guess its working right

Also, another thing worth mentioning, The phone socket is in the dining room, and my router is up in my office room upstairs, and to get it connected to there, I used a rubbish phone extention cable thing to the living room about 10m, then the microfilters plugged in there, and telephone is there, then a cat5 cable to my office room to my router. But I have ordered a brand new Cat5e cable that's 20m so I can go from my office the whole way to the socket to plug the microfilter in there and get rid of this rubbish old telephone extention cable that cost about 2 quid 10 years ago, but supprisingly though, I actually get constant download speeds of 1.8mb on it.

So my new cable will be here later this week an ill let you know if I get any improvement speed and noise wise from that etc,

But, do you think I should get a adsl faceplate aswell and get rid of the microfilter? iv thought of doing this but I don't know if there hard to install etc of if its legal

edit: omg just watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noILk3xBP2U and im going to get a adsl faceplate if its that easy hahaha!

Any recommendations on faceplates?

Its not cut off now since 6, so I recon they must have been doing something with it at the exchange... touch wood lol

Well, when it was cutting off, I wasn't noticing the phone cutting off, id go downstairs check the phone line and it was fine, but by the time I got back to check my router status it was already connected so I cant really say if the phone or not was cutting off also

and yeah I will, cant wait for my new cat5e cable to plug it straight into the wall no more messy cables everywhere

That line is about to lose signal.

1dB on Noise Margin is about all a router will tolerate.

When it does drop out you will probably find your phone will work fine but you may hear a crackle or something on the phone.

30-Jun-2015 is just a placeholder date. BT have your line in their plans but something is holding it up. Could be the council, an electric hook up or many other things. When June comes along it'll probably slide to Sept or Dec. The increase in speed is a bit meh too.

An old extension isn't probably helping things but I doubt it is the main reason it is failing. The line speed would or should self adjust for any poor cabling, unless they've turned off DLM.

Something I've not seen asked upthread: are you connecting to your router via a wired link or a wireless one? Because if it's the latter you may be getting interference from a neighbour, and so you should try changing the wireless channel or reverting to a wired link.

If that were the case the system uptime would match the WAN uptime, give or take a couple of minutes. It doesn't. So it seems like the connection itself is dropping.

Hmm theres no crackle, just like a constant hisssss that doesn't change frequency so im guessing that could be the ear piece in this rubbish house phone, sounds like when you've got a headset turned up too high

internet was responding really slow, webpages taking like 20 seconds to connect so and it was at 1db so I just rebooted router, its up to 3db now

what the hell, a few hrs ago it said, accepting orders on open reach checker thing, now it says enabled area :/ something strange is going on

Edit: my mistake, mis typed one didget in my phone number which led me to believe that I could get fiber now, but I know that telephone number and its hmm, 2 streets away, intresting they get fiber and I don't!
