Help me make my mind up.

First of all...what are you looking for in a monitor, then perhaps we could choose one to suit your needs?

What has limited you to these two specifically?

EDIT: It seems you want the answer to LED vs CCFL...is this correct?

I'm just after a Dell monitor to be honest, I've heard good things about them.

These are the two OCuK offer in 24" inch (the size I'd like) to replace my 20"

I game a lot and watch the odd movie, but more to ward the gaming side.

IMO very similar monitors. The only real difference I can see is

G
*LED lighting (no significant difference)
*+£36
*+10 degree viewing angle horizontal
*~<-10W power
*no HDMI

ST
* has HDMI

Whether these features matter to you make up £36 then go for the G.

Okay, let me put this another way :p

If you had the choice over those two, which would it be?

I really can't decide between them, I know the differences are marginal at best.

Personally, on condition that it is a choice between these specific monitors and I will be using it for a long-term solution, I would be inclined to go with the G due to higher viewing angle.

edit: but also wait for other peoples comments as well as they might have other experiences with these monitors and can fault it...if necessary.

Dissapointing with no HDMI, but I have my Panasonic Viera for HD shizzle.

Hmm.

I think they're both fantastic looking monitors.

OH yea, but I game on PC, if you console then get ST (obviously? jsut assumed you a pc gamer hehe).

Also, I notice earlier about your comment about Dell: "I've heard good things about them."

Well, I've heard good things about other things too...so please...don't go buying a Dell on the sole reason "because it's a Dell" okay ;)

Would you recommend another monitor for the same price that's better?

I game on PC, but I also own an Xbox and do enjoy playing on that from time to time.

I tend to play on my Panasonic Veira though, as I find the quailty via the HDMI cable from my xbox really good :)

Certainly. For your needs I would recommend the following:

This Iiyama ProLite B2409HDS has HDMI and a stand that could be useful if want to raise or lower it or,

If you don't need stand then this BenQ G2420HDB will do fine.

edit: as Alfie said below (sry didnt realise/forgot) that the G24 doesn't have HDMI and I thought that I would point out that the Eco version doesnt have DVI according to thespecs on ocuk.

It's not very sensible to choose a monitor based on brand, you are limiting yourself. Dell monitors are ok I suppose but their customer service is awful.

Have you looked at the new BenQ Eco 24 incher? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-036-BQ

People are raving about it's pedecessor on the OCUK forum http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-033-BQ but this new one looks better and has HDMI. If I had your budget which I assume is around 200 quid I'd go for the BenQ V2410 Eco.
